At 400 yards and in the Grendel, the 100 TTSX and 127 LRX would have the same drop and energy on target. The difference is that the LRX expands down to 1600 fps (per Barnes) which would increase your range to about 550 yards for reliable expansion.

110 grain Maker T-Rex has been my go to for my hunting handloads. Starline brass, CCI 450 primers and CFE223. Love to see the T-Rex tested. Shot a nice buck during rifle season and the blood trail was massive! Wish I could've recovered the bullet, but it was a complete pass thru. Jeff/Deerhearse Channel

True. Water is not muscle tissue and neither is ballistic gel. If I had access to cattle or pig carcases on a 24/7 basis I could use them. But I could never show that on KZbin. What water and ballistic gel do provide is a consistent medium to compare projectiles to one another

Thats good to hear. Years ago I loaded some TTSX 62gr using Barnes 5.56 info and never looked back. I tryed their .223 load and it sucked, but the faster I loaded them (5.56 data) the better they got. I got them up to within 50 fps of 855 and hit the sweet spot. Barnes have been by bullet of choice ever since.

Yes this is my deer load..I use Accurate 2460. It's my favorite for most of my smaller case copper loads.im not getting the speeds you are but my accuracy is superb. 115 tac tx are another good one. It allegedly was designed for the grendel and it opens up well at lower velocities.
@highcountryadventures9606
@highcountryadventures9606 20 күн бұрын
I've tested the Tac TX. They didn't do as well as these at longer ranges. I also had a hard time getting good velocities with that bullet. How does the 100gr perform on deer? From what I've seen that bullet may be one of the very best for the Grendel cartridge.
@william16845

@highcountryadventures9606 I wish I could tell you how they perform from personal experience but unfortunately the snow got crotch deep this year and I'm a full time engineering student now so I didn't get to use the loads I so meticulously developed over the summer. However I know many people have had superb results on deer with the 100s and 115s. I recently started blowing primers in my grendel brass and it scared me so I stopped using CCI 450s and toned things down because I don't wanna hurt my sweet little Howa minis bolt face and ejector like that. I also bought 300 new pieces of Hornady brass and am counting every firing from now on..the brass that was blowing primers was from when I first started handloading during the huge pandemic shortage and I hot loaded it multiple times during my learning curve. I estimate they had about 8 or 9 reloads with annealing every 3rd firing before primer pockets blew. The factory 115TAC TX from Barnes averaged 2390 out of my rifle I was able to get my hand loads to about 2480s but they were a little over moa. I seek sub MOA or what's the point of all the effort we go through. The 115 is a nasty expanding high bc projectile but I still have work to do to get the perfect 2500fps with sub MOA groups. It wasn't as hard for me to get that with the 100s. I've done so much research and development with every cartridge I shoot and I wish I could start my own channel to share what I've learned with the community but unfortunately I live in a blue state where showing the world what I have could put me in danger.

Nice. Tac is a great all around powder for the Grendel. For the 120 grain bullets and lighter my favorite powder is 8208 xbr. But it's hard to come by, and I hate using my supply on testing videos. CFE 223 is king for heavier bullets in my experience although getting good group sizes can be hit and miss

@@highcountryadventures9606 yep I can understand that, TAC has been the most affordable lately and fairly versatile, I’ve yet to try XBR due to availability, even though I keep hearing it is a great Grendel powder.
