A great example of the analog and effect sound from a reel to reel... To me vinyl and some tape have a little more to give us than digital but that might be my age. Thank you for sharing!

Hi Steve. You played this little tune in your last video and I was fascinated from the sound. On last friday I watched a small concert of a female guitar artist and she used a delay also on some of her songs. So I find it very fascinating how technology can support and improve the art of music. Greetz from Germany. 😊

Thanks for listening! Yes delay is a brilliant tool for creative stuff - Freddie Mercury used to do some wonderful delay singing (check out ‘the prophet song’)
@whiteman15062 күн бұрын
@@VintageKeysStudioI was listening to "The Prophet's Song", didn't knew it before (shame on me), thank you for your reference. This is seriously the most perfect usage of an analogue delay I ever heard, all on point. And all in consideration of the technology in the mid 1970s...

Well done! Important to show the bedroom baseball hats what we used to get up to with our Akai 4000s and acetate to get sounds like those on All Along the Watchtower, Dr Who theme music and Terry Riley’s Rainbow in Curved Air. Our analogue musical world required the use of art and physics in almost equal measure. You must surely have an old WEM Copicat box with four playback heads somewhere in your studio emporium for your echo Part II demo. I mean where would all those early 70s guitarists have got to without their Copicats?

Yes two copicat boxes! One valve and one layer one. Both in for repair at present, but will appear soon hopefully. Also a Tel Ray AdnEco

Frippertronics ( see- enoweb faq2 ) is a fun ambient echo of sorts. You take two (preferably identical) reel to reel tap machines and put them side by side. Instead of your take=up reel being on Deck 1, you use Deck 2's take=up reel, but you also feed Deck 1's feed-reel through Deck 2's tape head and pinch roller captstan. You end up with a completed product as your take-up reel. You enter Robert Fripp's and Brian Eno's ambient world of loooooong echoing, loops on loops fading in/ fading out depending on how loud or soft you play.
