The tune at the end was lovely. The wall of synths is insane, literally a wall.

That is in amazing condition! Looking forward to the deep dive into the Vox. Well, used to say "inner gadder da-vidder" - brilliantly renditionized!

I’ve got the exact same organ in about the same condition under my bed! My percussion switches have never worked so im looking forward to hearing what they should sound like….. i’m hoping for a little hammond style ping!

Fantastic! Absolutely incredible condition. I had a Saturday job in a Vox dealer back in the Middle Ages, that’s the nicest one I’ve seen since! Also love the Lowrey Heritage, mine also has divider pack issues 😥. Looking forward to more Vox and synths. Thanks.

Brilliant! Yes the dividers are a real nuisance. I am hoping to get them sorted soon

@@VintageKeysStudio perhaps you will be kind enough to do a video about how you’ve remanufactured them. The Heritage is a real eye opener for anyone not familiar with the insides! 👍

I remember reading about a Miller valve church organ on a vintage radio repair & restoration website that I'm a member of. I think it had something like 128 valves in it. I wonder if it's the same one? A great channel, as ever. Cheers!
@VintageKeysStudio5 ай бұрын
I think this one may be a slightly smaller version - it has valves in the amp and power rectifier, but the tone generator has big germanium transistors

Ahh cheers Curtis. We had a mega donation of all that gear and it’s getting some big videos devoted to them once I have gotten to grips with all the controls and wires…

Awesome. We just bought a Teischord A. Nice little combo. Short keyboard so no nice low bass notes that get nasty.lol I got it all sorted out and recapped.

I used to own a Vox Continental, stupidly sold it in the 80s. I wonder where the easiest place to find one now, or indeed a Farfisa or Hammond?
@southerner665 ай бұрын
I refurbished a similar Super Continental ~12 years ago. It was the most unstable device I've ever worked on. Seemed every time one function was repaired, something else broke.
@VintageKeysStudio5 ай бұрын
Yeah I can imagine when the transistors start to go wrong, it’s like a domino effect
@southerner665 ай бұрын
@@VintageKeysStudio It was more than that. After initial testing, a capacitor in the power supply exploded -- while the organ was off. During repairs, the vibrato board stopped working and proved unusually difficult to diagnose. The main dividers were built with those "PEC" (Packaged Electronic Component) assemblies, early precursors of integrated circuits, so it was a mess if something went wrong inside. And there were problems with the bass keying.

Those modular synths make me think that VKS could do an interesting crossover episode with the "Look Mum No Computer" channel. Unless you are opposed to musical Furbies on principle.

Haha - musical furbies - I will make some suitable silly noises and awful sounds and see if they are interested ;)

What is it about in a gadda da vida... instant smirk mode. It's one of those things that's great and stupid at the same time. Like Blak Sabbath. Great rendition though as always.

Nah, sorry. Hammond trumps Vox any and every day. Just my humble opinion, of course.
@peterorr9995 ай бұрын
The Vox Continental design brief was to produce a Hammond type of sound from a transistor keyboard that could be easily carried to gigs without a four-man lift. Almost by accident, the sound became desirable in its own right, being capable of breaking through the bass, drums and rhythm guitars on stage. It was used by many of the top touring 1960s bands - Beatles, Animals, Doors. etc.
@dickydoes5 ай бұрын
@@peterorr999 I know all that, thanks. I just don’t like how it sounds.
