My frequently used electric kettle is the only appliance that I leave on the counters. I would put the cookbook and its stand back where it used to be as it is colorful and doesn't take up much space. You did a great job.

The spice cabinet does not appear to use the upper shelf; since that shelf is adjustable, why not raise the shelf enough to fit a full roll of paper towels? Raise the shelf, put in an extension rod (running through the paper towel roll), and you'll have room for your cooking oils as well. Likely, you can place your copper tea kettle on that upper shelf. Two problems solved, perhaps even three.

Knives in the lower cabinet when you have a baby is just not a good idea. Though your baby may not be able to access the cabinet now, he will be soon. Better to be safe than sorry in my opinion.

I am moving from my apartment to stay with my boyfriends family for a few months while I finish my degree and then moving across the country to live with my parents after I graduate this spring so I am having to downsize my whole apartment. I hope everything I own can fit in a U-haul. I am going to keep my big items in a storage unit while I stay with my boyfriends family so I really have to chose what’s most important to take to their house with me for the next 4 months so I can store the rest until I move to my parents house. I hope this can help me be mindful of what I own and buy and only surround myself with things that make me happy and that I actually need.

I liked the spoon rest. Wasn't really clutter in my opinion, matched your other stuff. I Really want to take stuff off my counters but I have no place to put my appliances.

I love this so much! We have a goal to move out of state eventually and I started minimalism about 2 years ago. Yet, I have been working on getting down to just the minimum of items so when we do want to sell the house and take the leap it will be an easier process. After moving how do you feel now on letting go of items that seemed harder at the time? Any regrets moving out of state?

I break up my bookshelves with pretty boxes. So most of my books are visible on the shelves but then I have a little box for library books, one for tbr etc. It's like a visual break but I still have all the books lol

If an item hasn’t been used in 3 months, we donate. If it is broken or damaged, that calls for immediate throw away. We have a difficult time getting rid of the crafts our kids make and clothes they wore at the hospital, etc. For that, we are blessed with an attic. That is where we keep those special items and collectibles. This way, it isn’t in our day to day living space, but we can always remember those memories. ❤️

Oooooh that scene on your last night @ old apt !! Soooo familiar & relatable. Happens every time ! After ALL the work of major purging / organizing / packing ... and then still this random stuff . Ugh . You did an excellent job. The place looked gorgeous the next morning. And while pregnant & with a one y/o? Wow ! So impressive ! Big blessings to you & your Family

Wow ! I’m just subscribing today @ 1.39 K ! I’m new here. Excellent job with the move wow ! I’m so impressed! And your son is adorrrable , & such a good traveler, & “helper” with packing ! I’m confused tho : in part 2 vid of your big pre move downsizing, I thought you said you were moving to New Hampshire. Now Virginia ? Well .... VA is beautiful ! I’ve been there , but not in decades. ( Charlottesville & Richmond) . And it’s not aa cold as NH !

Wow ! Excellent job !! I’d now add : “Good luck with your Move!”, but I’m here ten months later so ... All the Best in your new Home ! And now, your new baby is here, tooo ! I have moved / downsized a few xs. And raised two ( now grown) terrific kids. I am pretty good about getting rid of stuff, ESP when I move ! I’m almost 62 now & STILL have more to do ! So you’ve inspired me. But ugh : I am so stubborn about my books! Happily, 1/3 or 1/2 have gone over time. But ideally, another 1/2 ( at least) should go. Annnnd .... oh no ! Old cassettes of rare stuff ! I neeeeeeed to transfer them to digital . But I’m “lo tech“ and don’t quite know how to. Was reading up on it yest tho. Itz GOTTA be done! I have a few shoe boxes filled w cassettes ! I’m so over them ! ( but NOT enuf to toss ... music is huge to me, esp off-beat, non mainstream stuff) . OY ! Thx 4 this vid ! I’ve gotta get rid of another “onion layer” of stuff. And yes ! Heels ! I cant wear them anymore. Last week I donated four pairs of shoes , and sixteen pieces of clothing. Feels great & I don’t miss them one bit ! Cheers from Buffalo, NY ! Liz

The first thing on your list is cords....and I agree. The two behind your head are very distracting as well as what looks like a cluttered shelf above your bed.

Hey! We live in Corinth/Denton but we are moving this winter to Royse City. We had also planned on opening a coffee shop in Corinth when we found out we were pregnant and decided not to. However, we went to NH & VT on our baby moon two years ago. One thing we noted was that area is desperate for some good coffee shops. I wish you guys good luck & pray God will bless your family and business. Maybe one of these days we will revisit and find your shop. We have a good friend who is a pastor in NH. I'm sure you guys already have a church by now but if not, you should look him up. His name is Nate Pickowicz. His church is Harvest Bible Church in Gilmanton Iron Works, NH.

For your knives, you should empty out a drawer and get a wooden drawer knife block organizer. It works great 😊You should also raise the shelf in your spice cabinet to fit the cooking spray. For drying your dishes, you can use a drying mat only. When things are dry, put them away and fold the drying mat and put it under your sink.
