No Tools Needed: Oil Change With The Dorman Twist Drain

Don't know if I've said it before on one of your videos but a piece of bent aluminum foil or a paper plate cut to fit under the filter drain spout would help reduce cleanup of the starter skid plate, and help guide all the used oil into your drain pan. You can also buy a formable funnel sheet that does the same thing.

Thats a great idea! Even though the starter skid plate doesn't hold much oil, your idea could definitely simplify cleanup. Next time, I'll hopefully position the drain pan correctly so that less oil hits the ground. Thanks for watching and for your helpful advice!

I def dont think this is for everyone considering the underside of my mirage is pretty beat up, dented oil pan and the plastic undertray is held up by zip ties.

The filter pliers shown in the video are easy to use from above if you are left handed. They can probably also be used from below if you remove the plastic aerodynamic piece (mine is missing).

yeah not my favorite either, i think a few oil changes ago i found a good technique but honestly completely forgot how i did it.
