I read when using the battery mixer that you shouldn’t use regen. How’s your experience been?

Shame they made the newer version way more expensive then just stopped all together. Never realized how valuable this would be now that I broke and in need of touring bike again but can’t afford. Used to be able to get these plentiful of local used markets for $150 and then 20-40$ thrift store 90s full rigid mountain bike and you have flexible system that can carry what you would on front and back of your bike all in one spot.

I tried the pedal sensor ring and I hated the power output it generated. I'm in the process of installing a torque sensing BB.

ITS ABOUT TIME ! It's about time I heard from a woman about E-Bikes.. THANK YOU SO MUCH! I watch video after video on E-Bikes and they all start with "" Hey Guys".... It's refreshing and encouraging to hear a woman's point of view. Good job. Tell your friends, I'll tell mine. E-bikes are for everyone, not just the young and physically fit among us.... They are for everyone. We all need a cheap alternative means of transportation..All of us. If you are older and you have worked hard all your live and have pain in your joints, you can still ride and not stress those joints more than what is helpful, while still keep them moving. I'm 61 and I tore the meniscus in my right knee. There are times when I can't even do one repetition on my electric bike, but after some time riding, I can regain that repetition. Thank you again for putting your opinions out there,

Thanx for this video, bc I never thought about riding my almost converted Rocky Mountain Vertex 10 all year round. It's not a fat bike though, and I'll have to check out winter tire types for mine. I will be ordering a kit from Grin in the next few days. Cheers...

I own the Big Fat Dummy ...is it compatible? ...would it be able to preform just as well in the BFD as it does in the Big Dummy or would the BFDs extra weight cause the engine to be strained?
@cyclenine
@cyclenine 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Justin - we don't have a BFD to try this out on. The main issue would simply be whether you can fit it/mount it. You could try contacting the people at ebikes.ca about it, they should know whether it fits. As to whether it will strain the motor, no, it shouldn't be a problem. The Stokemonkey uses your bike's gearing, which means that the motor is taking advantage of gears just like your legs are. If you decided to go with a hub motor - which would also possibly work - it would be a bit more concern, but not too much. I use the Grin All Axle motor on my fatbike now, and it does okay even when I bog down in deep snow. The main thing with a lighter-weight motor like that one is to keep an eye on its temperature to make sure it doesn't overheat. If you use the Grin CycleAnalyst, you can program it to measure the temperature and cut back on power if you're overdoing it. Most of all... have fun and let me know how it goes. I want to try out a BFD sometime, it looks great!

How come you don't create a bicycle repair shop cooperative I think it'd be a big hit with no teach people how to fix and maintain their bicycles and you could also hold classes on doing that and you can repair bikes as well for money

It looks like he could really have used a trailer. Loading 3 boxes vertically on each side and 4 on top would probably have been a little steadier. Nice effort, but if the message was about the limitations of cargo biking, you sent it.

Great video. How do you like the grin motor? I'm getting a cargo bike with a 15mm front thru axle and it seems like this is the only option for a hub motor that I've seen so far.
@cyclenine
@cyclenine 6 жыл бұрын
The motor is good. But the version of the motor that I have is the fast winding. It's too fast for this application. They now have different windings that are aimed towards slower/higher torque applications, for a fat bike or cargo bike, I'd go for one of those.

do you know how wide the all axle motor is? I'm planning out my first ebike build and am debating whether to go ahead with a 9C or wait for the all axle. I'm asking also because my donor bike is a single speed road bike with 120mm fork spacing.. thank you for the great vid!
@--onewheelskyward--

It will do anything from 100mm to 150mm with the proper spacers.

my bike has regen braking and it is awesome. not only does it save brake pads it is a smooth experience and i feel very in control. (spent last week riding around with a broken brake lever and never felt unsafe...fixed it anyhow to be sure to be sure) the bike is currently set up with a throttle and no pedal assist sensor (because they are retarded and unsafe) and i have my kelly controller programmed to engage regen on drop throttle. much like a drag brake on an rc car. i achieve "coasting" by applying the throttle gently and can vary or maintain my speed at will. much like engine braking using the gears of a car. as for "not much momentum" its all relative a bike has not much but requires little power to initiate movement. likewise a car has a lot but takes a lot to get moving so its a mute point. any way that said my bike weighs a lot and i appreciate the extra braking to help pull me up without needing to wear out pads. presenter has obviously never riden a 1000w bldc throttle driven ebike with regen.
