Thanks for this. I have a ferro rod I use with a very small ordinary camping knife. I don't know what kind of steel the knife is made from but it works just fine, and both fit into a small tin or pouch when I need it. :)

Thank you for this video. I'm an older woman (60 this year) and have health issues including going blind. If I go out (rarer now with lockdown in Ireland) I use the traditional white cane to get around. It's always good to feel less helpless, even if you never need it, than have fear of what might happen and not knowing what you are capable of doing to protect yourself or others. It'd be good to see more videos like this aimed at older folks.

I have the prodigy fine edge and I love it, it's a fantastic knife, I also have two Mora companions, one is the HD carbon, the other is just a normal companion, and I also love them, the way a Mora bites into wood or whatever your cutting on is unlike any knife I own, they are amazing bush knives, can't beat a Mora in the bush,

Have been keeping a .177 spring/gas cylinder airgun on hand for the last 14 years. I like the Gamo 177, currently have the wildcat whisper. Beeman makes some accurate rifles, the two barrel kit ain't one of them. Also advertised velocities are like profile pictures on dating sites. I got into it for pest control in an area where I couldn't discharge a firearm. After putting 30 squirrels, a few rabbits, and countless starlings down on my 1.8 acre property I've kept one around. Now in many places it is legal to hunt with air rifles. In Virginia we can shoot hogs with them and turkey, other small game. For deer they must be .35 cal PCP or better. Personally if going the wallmart route, I would suggest a .177 Gamo or Crossman. Nothing wrong with a .22. Spring or gas piston airguns are different. Require practice and shock proof scopes made for air guns. Worth the time to learn. Also a great hobby. If prepping maybe get two? If they break you're mostly SOL. PCP guns can usually be prepared, lots more money involved and you'll need a good pump or three in an SHTF scenario.

Ramen packages are VERY LOUD. I prefer to keep my stuff as quiet as possible. Sometimes running some tape around a package makes a world of difference. Sometimes not.

I may have seen it on The Woodwright Shop. Cut a pair of gluts, wooden wedges, from the same piece. Gives the ability to split longer stuff for long fires or whatever.
