Hi. Im looking to buy this drone for an upcomung bike ride in Italy in March. Could i ask you which settings in follow mode were used here? There will be 5 of us and it would be good if the drone could be back far enough and high enough to get us all in shot.
@LakeDistrictcyclist4 күн бұрын
Hi I main used follow mode here, in the app you can set it to far and high which should get all of you in. Direction track is from the front, circle goes all around you and you can set 4 mts, 8mts, 12 mts and 20 mts I think so you can set each mode so it should get you all in
@johnjefferybikepacking3 күн бұрын
@@LakeDistrictcyclist I've been reading information about the follow mode speed recently increasing. Do you know what speed can be achieved when the drone is moving backwards from the front perspective? (Direction track).
@LakeDistrictcyclist3 күн бұрын
@ I’ve found directional track not very good for a bike, doesn’t go to quick more for walking pace but follow mode I’ve had over 20mph and still follows ok 😊
@johnjefferybikepacking3 күн бұрын
@@LakeDistrictcyclist thanks for that. I was thinking as much but I'm sure follow mode will get us some good footage. I'm desperately trying to set up any types of mount I may require for the GoPro as well as how to launch the drone. I'm thinking of one of those Gooseneck Jaw Clamp mounts to shift the GoPro around to different bike locations, plus a handlebar mount. I was considering the mouth mount but I have this suspicion that with one unscheduled stop I could be the first person know to inwardly digest a GoPro!

Can it be mounted on a Vario radar mount? Did you experience any false alerts that a car was behind when there was none? Is the battery life as advertised?

I got my L7 yesterday and I can't speak of its radar performance yet because I haven't got the chance to ride outside - it's just above freezing here in Seattle. But in terms of its use with a Garmin Edge bike computer (I have tried it with Edge 530 and 840), the L7 does not integrate well with the light network. The L7 can be added to the Garmin as both radar and light but I wouldn't add the latter, as confirmed by my correspondence with Steven at Cycplus. If the L7 is the sole device in the light network, that is if you do not have another ANT+ device like a head light in the light network, the light network is stable. If you have another device in the light network, the light network will be unstable, with the head unit having problem communicating with all the devices in the light network. I asked Steven why the L7 does not behave like the Varia radar/taillight in the light network and he told me each radars use their own proprietary protocols (I thought the ANT+ light network was standard?). But that does not really explain why the L7 does not get along with another device in the light network when that is not an issue for the Garmin Varia. The Garmin head unit offers four lighting modes: auto, high visibility, trail, and individual. Choosing any one of these four modes makes no difference with the L7, unlike the Varia taillight. If your Garmin head unit has an ambient light sensor like the Edge 530/840, and the display is set to auto brightness, the L7 only has two lighting modes: low intensity (high ambient light) and mid intensity (low ambient light). If the auto brightness is disabled on the Garmin head unit, the L7 has only one lighting mode. When the L7 is paired to the Garmin head unit as a light, you cannot manually change the lighting mode by pressing the power button on the L7, as the Garmin head unit has full control over it. The L7 does not have a standby mode like the Garmin Varia. When its taillight is off and the device has not moved for 10 minutes, the LED indicator at the bottom of the device goes off and it goes to sleep. In this state, the L7 is not discoverable by both the Cycplus app and the Garmin head unit. The L7 is discoverable if you wake it up by moving it. In comparison, when the Garmin Varia is in standby mode, it remains discoverable by the Garmin head unit so as soon as you power on the Garmin head unit, it finds the radar without waking it up.

If you fancy a trip down south I can recommend The South Downs Way, it is a two day ride for me anyway and bring plenty of water bottles it can be in short supply up on the downs.
@markwringe28268 күн бұрын
That does look good. Two of the multi-day routes I've most enjoyed are Portpatrick to Dumfries, brilliant variety of scenery, and Hadrian's Cycleway. Keeping it to shorter trips, and basically off-road, Ballachulish to Loch Creran (NCN 78) has wonderful views, and is mostly an old railway line; the Deeside way (Aberdeen to Ballater or sections of it); or take the train to Rannoch Station and do a circuit on quiet roads of Loch Rannoch.
