I use my stash for 1 purpose Boiling water fast as possible when on the move. Only use for dehydrated, meals, and hot drinks on the mountain. That’s its purpose!

Not only do I pre-dig my cathole, I put a reflective tent peg by it so I can spot it with my headlamp in the middle of the night. Sometimes those freeze dried meals sneak up on you.

Man, I really want to lick your channel. I keep on getting tricked into subscribing, and then I watch a video and immediately unsubscribe the moment I get into your built-in, long-ass infomercial "sponsor" section. I pay for KZbin premium specifically to avoid commercials. I resent when people sneak one in. I consider it fair to make a passing reference to a sponsor, but to hide a whole commercial within your video is trickery I don't like. Good luck.

Eating while hiking makes one sluggish and sleepy, since digestion uses energy that should be used for hiking. I skip breakfast and just have munchies when hiking. A quart of Gatorade is all that is necessary for a day hike.

Not stopping AS SOON as you start feeling a hot spot. My brother and i were backpacking with a guy who would not stop to take care of his hot spots. We kept telling him we had Lueko tape handy, and it was no big deal to stop. But he insisted they werent that bad YET. 🤦♀️ His feet were tore up at the end of the day, and we had to bail ot 8 miles from our original end point and get a shuttle to our car. It was pretty frustrating.

I just did this a few weeks ago. Hammock camped close to home, drove halfway up a mountain (Greylock in MA), got a few AT miles, took a nap, then drove to summit for amazing sunset. The only bad part was restaurant tacos instead of food truck tacos. We know several free campsites near parking and we take full advantage of it.

here are my tips... 1) use fruits or vegetable netting for cleaning your cooking and eating utensils. 2) use japanese exfoliating towels or kessa cloth over loffa. bringing a dog bowl or collapsible plow bucket and a bio degradable soap to clean yourself on trail. 3) with tip no.2 bring both the dr bronners castile bar (and) liquid soap. Buy the bar soap first and then cut the bar soap in half. Liquify the other half of the bar soap by putting it in a ziplock bag and add water into it, leave it for couple of days until its liquified. 4) bring olive oil while backpacking, they make a great bug repellent spray, dishwashing stove, sunburn soother, and a cooking oil if needed. 5) for a cheaper backpacking experience try purchasing a butane adapter on ebay or temu. During your backpacking trip purchase a butane canister in almost any gasoline station or dollar store (petrol station/pound store for uk viewers) to save money. 6) do actually invest in microfiber towel on temu, they're cheap but it work like magic... but that's just my experience. 7) if you're going to use solar panels on your trip, try using a solar panel separate to your power bank. In case if solar panels won't work due to weather, your power bank will do the charging for you. 8) toothpaste has multiple uses, it can be used as toothpaste it is but it also relieves bug stings, relieves pain, and as a metal polishing instrument 9) consider buying yourself a bathing suits, they're cheaper than running shorts. 10) from the tips no.2 and 3, after cleaning and drying yourself keep a small tin of bag balm with you, they're much heavy duty comparing that to vaseline.

I like Gaia until they recently merged with another partner ? I tried Hiking Project and found it to be way off. I have a trail near me that is 6 mi and 4,000 ft climb. HP told me it was 3 mi and 1100 ft climb plus the North indicator didn’t move at all. Wish I had someone to ask about these results. Looks like I’m back to Gaia and All Trails.

Can you do an experiment with curing the radiator to insert the stove closer to the pot to get it more wind resistant and more stable-standing while using?

One advantage I have is that I'm a natural early riser - my biological clock wakes me up at 5 a.m. every day, no matter what. So I can get an early start on a hike, no prob. The bad thing about a biological clock like that is that if I have to stay up for longer than usual for whatever reason, I still wake up at 5 a.m. On the rare days that I haven't had long enough to sleep, if I can, I'll take a nap some time during the day.

The first and last time I took a girlfriend camping, not even backpacking, we ended up at a motel at one in the morning. Despite that, she married me anyway! 30 years later and she still hasn't gone, but she fully supports me. She thinks I'm crazy and wonders why people willingly torture themselves like that. And don't even get me started on gear!

Here in the UK I was cycling on Naked Ramblers Day. I could see lots of pale things in the distance about 50 (think they were all men but I only made eye contact) men passed me going in the opposite direction. I was so glad I’d seen a post on FB earlier in the day

Just found your channel, I need to explore more. I have a massage gun, the only time I can stall it is when I'm going hard on the back of my hip bone when I'm working on sacroiliac joint and it's almost skin on bone. A few weeks ago, I went kayaking on the local river in Central Indiana that was pretty crowded, and there was definitely some signs of alcohol and a certain fragrance in the air more than once. There were quite a few parties where groups had grounded their kayaks or canoes on sandy spots along the banks. There were also quite a few children on the river with parents. It even seems most of the teens were with adults which was probably a good thing.
