how different was the old version of PM: Sticker star! It was more similar to the previous games in the Paper Mario series. For example, Mario had a partner, and the fight took place on stage, just like in The Found Year Door

It’s fascinating to look at this trailer and compare it to the final game. There’s still a lot of it here, but it’s definitely in a more diluted form. It’s hard to say whether or not the game as it was being developed at this stage would’ve been better than the _Sticker Star_ we actually got, but it’s hard not to mourn what was lost anyway.

Yes, this trailer was 2 years and 5 months before the final release of Sticker Star in 2010. I think other builds after this showed that it was closer to the final build.

@@reykdellarobia There were trailers shown in June 2010 as either unplayable or playable demos showing what the 3DS capabilities would be before it came out the year after. This footage was one of them, though it was lost until now. It even shows 2010 at the beginning of the trailer before it starts.

yikes. even from the start, this forbidden sticker gimmick is still present, which makes me think that this game was already doomed from the start. ...regardless, it's nice to see a scrapped trailer popping up after years.

I disagree. So many of these feel like placeholders or are unfinished. Mario's eyes are still open when jumping on a spiked enemy for example. I think if they weren't forced to change everything and rush the whole game again, they could've fleshed out the battle system.

peoples after watched this E3 trailer in 2010: "this new Paper Mario Game for 3ds will be awesome!🙌" Peoples after played Paper Mario 3ds(Sticker Star) after see the E3 trailer in 2012: "my disapointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined😢, DISAPOINTED😠, and others......." -This game has much to be the best Paper Mario, but all we saw back in 2012 ended with hate, cricticizes and misery, Paper Mario Sticker Star are considered as the worst Paper Mario Game ever, because he has no partners, some spikes part in the game was too difficult for no reason and the battle system was awful! how Sticker Star can be a good game with that horrible combat system?

I wonder if this proto game had a basic jump and hammer attack, or if you did need stickers for everything Also wondering if the chain chomp attacked on its own or if it also needed to use some special item to attack

This game its art style looks incredible especially compared to what it had become in every game afterwards. The mole enemy looks really cool too. It could have used some more interesting enemy and partner designs but it was an early trailer. The only terrible thing that was still in this was the sticker mechanic. Wiggler looks annoying but that's a small thing. But besides that it looks amazing. They really got to go back to this artsyle and ease on the emphasis on paper to the point it was in this trailer. It's really sad what it turned into. I don't want to comment anymore because of all the shadow banning and comment removing on this platform but I really hope Nintendo is listening to our opinions on this trailer. I haven't bought any of the new paper mario games after stickerstar.

I won't lie: some of this stuff like the extra detail in level design and other things like the partners were cool. I get why we didn't get most of this as well. Either way, this game was a part of my childhood, and I'll defend it's worth in that regard to the end.

This looks so much more visually distinct than the final product, which makes me wonder about what on earth was going on at Intelligent Systems when they decided to radically shift the art direction. Did nobody on the development team question the choice to make everything more generic? I suppose hindsight is 20/20, but I can't help but shake the feeling that even some of the art team felt that the changes wouldn't be well received.

How full of hope we all had for this frickin' game. I was excited for the game Because Super Paper Mario was my first ever videogame with storytelling in it with memorable characters. And seeing promo stuff for Sticker Star made me generally excited for the game... And the disaster that the final product was is a can of worms I can't describe without beating a dead horse.
