Does it have a dog door? I was wondering how well it works to let your dog observe and to deploy him.

They don’t come with a dog door, you can buy one from beavertail and it’s up to you to cut the hole and sew it on (which is why I didn’t do it) but it hasn’t been a problem since the dog likes to sit or peak from under the blind by the motor where I have the dog ladder

About time I can find some relevant newer info on this boat. Out here in WA they have no dealerships so I’ll be going out of state. What is top speed with your 115? It’s rated up to 150 the website says for the 186 side console model? But only a 90 for the tiller? Any idea why they don’t rate it higher than the 90 when the side console can take the 150? Huge thank you for the. video. This boat is beefy

I get to about 35 mph with the 115 and that's pretty consistent whether its just me or 4 guys, and a boat load of decoys, gear and dogs. I'm not sure why the tiller rating is so low, maybe something to do with weight distribution? I might be looking to sell if your interested

Hey Ryan! Been watching you reviews and I’m torn… Not sure if the CC or SC would be more user friendly. I’m wanting the casting deck but the SC for duck hunting. I’m assuming the CC would take up a spot for Someone to hunt? Really want that deck up front tho..
@TheRyantanner
@TheRyantanner Жыл бұрын
the CC would be nice for fishing but would certainly cost you some room with the console and the raised deck.... I would bet a CC would cost you at least 1 seat... maybe 2 depending on how the holes in the blind align with the console. I also don't know how high the center console stands, it might make the beavertail blind not an option if you can't flip it over due to the console height

I'll be interested to know how it works out for you. The 1800 fits but not sure how much better the 2200 would've been... depending on how high you want the blind you'll need to cut quite a bit off the front poles (the middle 2 poles) to make it equal to the height in the back... I still haven't gotten around to correcting that on mine

Ryan, great looking boat! I just picked up an Outlander 186 of my own and am curious to what length trolling motor shaft you have, and would you recommend the same length shaft?
@TheRyantanner
@TheRyantanner 2 жыл бұрын
It’s a 60” shaft 24v/ 80# thrust. I does the job, if it gets choppy and all the weights in the back of the boat it will come out of the water so if it were longer it wouldn’t be a bad thing but not really required. not sure what you’ll be fishing… if it’s the Great Lakes… this setup will do fine BUT you would benefit from the 36v/ 112 # when your trolling against the current

Ryan... thanks for the videos! I am looking at this exact same boat at Freeway. Now that you’ve had for both seasons (fish and hunt), is there anything you would do or not do? I do a lot of troll fishing, but usually not from the bow so Joel at Freeway was suggesting a “troll” button for the 115hp that allows you to reduce and control RPMs from the helm. Never heard of this and it sounds crazy that a 115 could troll slowly enough. Have you tried trolling with your 115? I also like the beavertail blind, but it seems like it would be hard to get in/out of the boat once you’ve got it strapped down. Am I overthinking it? Thanks for the great information you’ve provided on this boat/blind setup!
@TheRyantanner
@TheRyantanner 2 жыл бұрын
Yea Joel is who I worked with too!, yea so my thoughts after 2 seasons on the water.... I absolutely love it, and would do it again without thinking about it. as far as your questions. I do a good bit of fishing on Lake Superior when the weather is good... I would suggest the 36v ulterra trolling motor vs the 24v I got, a little more juice would be nice to have on the great lakes, if you're only fishing inland lakes 24v is fine. the beavertail blind has been absolutely awesome. you are correct that its a bit of a pain getting in only because one corner needs to be unbungeed and its not super easy to get to from inside with waders on and all that, sometimes we don't even put that bungee on 1 corner and then you can just flip it over with ease. in crappy weather though, it is great for staying dry and out of the elements, especially if you have less then 4 shooters and one of the holes is closed, it will hold heat from a buddy heater pretty well that way The trolling feature on the motor is probably a good move.... not sure where you fish but on lake superior there's a current that flows around the Keweenaw peninsula, one way I'm at 7 on the trolling motor going 2.2mph... the other way against the current, I'm at 10 on the trolling motor AND have the 115 in gear to maintain the 2.2mph... and so that has been my solution... I just put the motor in drive and increase or decrease the trolling motor as needed but per the manual thats not really its intended purpose. so the trolling feature is a good idea imo. any other stuff I can think of.... the Helix 9 MEGA SI gen3 Love it and has all the features I need BUT if I had to do it again I might get the Solix 10 just because lol. Oh... lastly if your going to be fishing the great lakes.... just have them install a good marine radio... that would've been nice to do, instead I have a handheld that works but man, something built in would've been well worth the money that's all I can think of off the top of my head, let me know if you have any other questions

@@TheRyantanner Thanks, Ryan! Very helpful. Most of my use will be on Houghton and Higgins lakes (at least for fishing). They are both big lakes and can get pretty rough, but nothing like the Great Lakes! The only other question I forgot to ask you is about light bars. I didn’t see one on your boat and I’m trying to figure out where to mount it/them if I have a trolling motor. Did you come up with a solution for a light bar(s)? Thanks, again!
@TheRyantanner
@TheRyantanner 2 жыл бұрын
@@toddruthruff834 Gotcha, yea this boat is great for big inland lakes... I've been in 4' waves on superior when storms just sweep in and although it wasn't fun I never felt like I was in danger so it will hold its ground in any condition I can think of being out in on an inland lake.... Ah YES! A light bar... my solution is a handheld spotlight (the rechargeable one from Walmart isn't bad for the $$), I would like a light bar but the handheld has been enough for my applications, my previous 16' ModV had one and it was pretty handy, especially on rivers.... One last thing to know, the boat does need about 11-14 inches of water to float..... I'd guess you could get away with 4-6 inches with the haul but that 115 is heavy and puts a lot of weight on the back end ..... as for the 115, this motor is AWESOME.. 4 guys and 15dz decoys/ equipment the boat will still move at 35 mph... about 39-40mph unloaded and it is super quiet, no joke I've had guys at the launch ask "hey, are you going to start that thing?" while its idling lol .... just read the manual when you get the boat.... I've never broken a outboard in before, they have some very specific directions for breakin period and rpm ranges to stay in for X hours etc...

Awesome looking rig! Plan on picking up a 2010cc outlander very soon to use for guiding duck hunting and jigging rivers for walleye. I love hard sided blinds but am liking your set up as it is more versatile. You can lay the blind down and throw a layout boat across the bow or fold it up and use the boat for fishing. How is the blind holding up and how much rafia grass do you have on it?
@TheRyantanner
@TheRyantanner 3 жыл бұрын
yea agree, my alternative to this was either a banks or duckwater, I made the right choice as this is way more versatile for what I want to do, and before or after waterfowl season taking the blind off is 5 minutes work to loosen the bars and lift it off... that easy. the blind is still in great shape. the only complaint ( and its a very small one) is that you occasionally (like 2 times a season) need to pull the material forward about 2 inches on the frame cause of the travel it slides back and it makes the frame sit a little weird if you don't correct it but that all

@TheRyantanner

yea so this is why I actually chose this particular boat, I fish lake superior in the summer and this will get me out there on any day that I'd want to be fishing. as for shallow, most my hunting is in great lakes and great lakes connected water so we don't have too much for big expansive wetlands, the boat will draft like 8" so 10" of water your fine but if its a huge shallow area you're gonna be pushing a long way, I don't think you can have a short shaft motor on this boat so you'll need at least 2.5-3' of water to use the motor

@TheRyantanner
@TheRyantanner 3 жыл бұрын
duck hunting from it is great, very comfortable, I do need to order the dog door and dog ladder since its totally encapsulated every bird ends up being a blind retrieve for the dog unless he's sitting outside the blind which I don't prefer.. as for you getting in and out, you have to flip the blind or squeeze out of the side, either way its not hard at all. the boat actually does go pretty shallow, you can draft it and push in like 12-14 inches of water, and the trolling motor does great getting around in those shallow weedy spots you don't want to run the main motor in. the only caution is to make sure in super shallow water your not going to damage that transducer by running it up on something

Hi Ryan, I can never see both ends of the back part of the frame at the same time - did you have to do any modifications to get the blind to stretch from the max 86" width to 92" on the Polar Kraft? Thanks!
@TheRyantanner
@TheRyantanner 4 жыл бұрын
the back is actually fine, the widest part of the boat (92") is right by the gas cap cover toward the bow. I did just pull on the bottom piece to the frame to give it a little arch to it but it works out well, especially because the 4 holes can align with the 3 seat pedestals... if I had gotten the 2200 series blind I don't know how the seating would've worked out with 5 holes, another thing I did have to do was take 3" off the frame to correct to height of the frame, as it was you couldn't see down on the water sitting in the seats, you were basically looking at the horizon which presented a little challenge and that was with the travel cover..... because I cut the frame shorter it makes the blind a little wider when its collapsed so the travel cover in the middle where I bent it out + cut the frame short you need to muscle it a little to get it clipped... nothing that I regret doing but things I didn't anticipate happening when I set it up.... its been a little while and I've hunted out of it a handful of times... I'll try to make a video here of it being hunted to get a better idea of what it all looks like in the field
