No way in hell I would bank my retirement on abf being around in 30 years. Not putting them down at all, it’s just literally every other union ltl carrier has constantly cut pensions, and then went out of business. They go out, you aren’t drawing near what you were suppose to if anything. Scary to say the least. The pension sounds great, but so does a 401k that you can guarantee will be there. I’m going to take my chances elsewhere because I’d bet money abf isn’t around in 30 years

I've been with ABF for almost 18 years, I don't particularly care much when people post videos like this with.no context. Has ABF laid off in the past, "Yes" they have. it's gone on for as long as I have been with the company and before I ever started. This is the freight business, and it has ebbs and flows. This particular individual has been here at best 3 years. I remember a time in later 2006 early 2007 the start of the Recession that took root in 2008. I was getting a work call once per month. So you younger newer people still are doing better than that. Just stick with it and stop causing your coworkers more stress than they need in their lives right now. Another thing to remember, things always go this way heading into a Presidential election year, it's because of uncertainty. Just take care of your money, no big luxury purchases, and try living within your means, not living your lifestyle to the standard of what you were earning when times are great. Capeesh!

Stay with ABF! I know it can be tough until you gain enough seniority. Every man on top of your board was right where you are at one time. Hang in there, ABF is a great company. Your company is providing alot of benefits that others dont get or they are not comparable. Don't be fooled by the bs out there. I ran on the Sacramento board many years until I retired. Best outfit I ever worked for. Just do your time and soon enough you can relax a little knowing they'll work your butt into the ground. Take care and stay positive, It'll all work out.

I was one of the affected drivers with Yellow.. I drove locally with Holland for 26 years and lost my job at 56 years old. I was on unemployment for 4 months and got on WITH USPS. I just recently left the post office and got on with the highway department with ILLINOIS TOLLWAY. I got lucky much better wages and benefits. I'm done with LTL and hope to retire in 10 years. I feel horrible for all of my union brothers who are hurting.. You need to do what's right for you. ABF is a great company, but if you feel you're going to be laid off, start looking for something else

As an active 36 year Teamster, here is my opinion Stay at ABF….you have a pension…a rarity today Being on the lower end of the seniority list sucks but seniority is a pillar of our contracts I’ve climbed it twice Just made number 1 in my public works garage after 2 67 year old drivers finally retired and the guy between those 2 and me died unexpectedly Just hang in there
