To me, the reason that chuckle keeps using like... snooki and lady gaga and homeless people and whomever else as punchlines is that he just, fundamentally, does not view them as real people. They are imaginary concepts, only as real to him as the unicorn or the giraffe with a tutu. Chuck isn't curious about whether these people have inner lives or histories or complex emotions, he just assumes they appeared in the world one day exactly as they are. To restructure a quote from dan olson: "chuck wants to be a famous writer, he wants to make art, but he can't, because he's a fundamentally incurious person who isn't much interested in what other people think or feel and all his ideas boil down to 'what if a homeless man shat out a jersey shore dvd?'"

toph was a diverse character done right! not just for checkboxes like characters today. also Toph had a personality outside of "ME STRONG WOMAN ME ROAR!" i also bet if they made Toph today they would make her nonbinary/LGBT or some crap...... 🙄 i seriously dont think that type of stuff belongs in children/family programming.
@WeRNotAlive3 сағат бұрын
It might surprise you to know that Toph was quite literally introduced to tick a box by introducing a second girl to the group rather than a planned manly male character. They also made her blind and young because it was funnier to have such a character easily trash big muscly dudes. Kinda simple and shallow on paper, but then the show proceeded to do a good job with her and make Toph one of the popular characters behind Zuko. It goes to show that execution is everything and sweating it about motivations for diverse characters is a false cause. Edit: D’oh just reread that last sentence. Holy homophobia Batman.

@@WeRNotAlive I just dont think the topic of LGBT belongs in shows that young children may watch. who you want to do the deed with isnt what kids need to know! its bad enough kids are growing up too quick as it is! why have them grow up quicker!

Man, I was trying to say some fun facts and be informative. Why did you have to be on the side of censoring people out of existence? Especially when you’re talking about a series where 12 and 14 year olds kiss on the mouth. If that’s not icky to you, but a gay character is, you’re not actually worried about kids.
@stormgirl09Сағат бұрын
@@WeRNotAlive I’m talking about like 5 year olds not teenagers! But I do admit in reality 12 and 14 is too young to have a serious relationship as well.

Most of these points i could've replied by "Why not?". If i want to make a certain type of story with themes that you don't like, that's not my problem to change it. It's your choice if you want to engage with it. Most of this list are just things that this person doesn't like and not writing tips.

The thing about making mistakes is that a lot of the horror depends on why and/or what kind. Is the mistake careless, deliberate or does the protag even know they made a mistake? Did someone else make a mistake and the protag has to deal with the fallout? Does the protagonist feel like the whatever is happening because they made a mistake, are they maybe in denial and insist that they didn't do anything wrong? Are they correct in any of their assumptions? Maybe everyone thinks that the protagonist made a mistake, maybe even the protagonist themselves, but either the threat is a) not affected by the mistake b) the mistake is not what the characters/readers think it was. My personal favorite type of horror is making a mistake you couldn't have known was a mistake and starting an unfortunate chain reaction. Can you already tell that I'm fascinated by industrial/engineering disasters? The ultimate horror is always neglect caused by greed and/or capitalism. And of course the classic "We did everything we could and we did everything right but it still didn't matter/made everything worse. There is no winning. There is no escape. Our fates were sealed from the start/we barely survived but it will never be over and never be the same.". Very effective way to instill dread. Maybe there are no mistakes to be made. Think about candle cove, the characters are just exposed to something very strange and mysterious that becomes horror when they piece together the broader implication of what might have happened. Sometimes the protagonist is just a passive witness, relaying the horror to us as an outside observer without any agency or effect to the outcome. How often we just observe horrible things happening through our newsfeeds, unable to have any effect on the events because they are just so out of our control? Unable to look away, unable to do anything. I'd say that kind of horror has been very integral part of living through the 2020's so far. Stare into the nightmare brick and despair. This part is going to get rough. Can you also tell that I live next to Russia? Witnessing the invasion of Ukraine without any way to stop it, hour-by-hour during the first days was hell. You have to keep going, you all have to somehow keep yourself together because there is no time to grieve, no time be afraid when everything seems to be going out of control so fast but the society needs to stay running, even when we all are afraid to die, afraid of losing our loved ones to something so senseless and cruel that it feel impossible to comprehend. And then you see people spreading misinformation, refusing to believe what's happening is real, you yourself confusing what's real anymore, people callously declaring how some people should just be sacrificed so they themselves can feel a little safer. You see people speaking about you and your country like they know anything about what it's actually like to live here and what our history has been. And they dismiss your fears based on this "knowledge". It truly makes you feel hopeless and small. You've done nothing wrong. But your existence is just to be pushed around by forces bigger than you, and when you aren't the one actively fighting for your life, you observe from the sidelines. You are okay for now. How long will you be okay? You can't know, you can only observe. Anyway, that's just my personal take on this. I think I might need to eat something, my hands are shaking. Haha, weird.

Hands down for a good flat out evil villain has to be Cassandra Nova from Deadpool and Wolverine. Just sadistic as all hell and I hope we can see more of her. I also like morally grey characters too, especially if they lean toward what makes/would make them a "villain" or if they were originally one. It makes them more complex and I think that is neat.

Love OCD /s but that was so relatable! I have OCD and for me I "have to" do certain things to avoid general bad thing that is undefinable?? Don't know what it is as I've never tried not following my compulsions long enough to find out! Also I have that double diagnosis of ASD and OCD, so is it a routine or obsession leading to this compulsion, or both? probably both! I also felt so bad for Gangle this episode, but thank goodness for Pomni and Zooble! Loved seeing Ragatha get lost in the sauce this episode and it felt like Jax was trying to connect with the others more this episode??? I wonder what's happening? maybe he's trying to change attention-seeking methods, or maybe he genuinely wants to get closer to them?? hmm...

I have a theory that Avatar's twin sister, Nisha, could be Kuvira's reincarnation. Karmically, they would be linked in the next life because of this massive spiritual energy event that was the creation of a new spiritual portal. But Nisha would have part of Raava's spirit. Just like the Spirit of the Moon gave part of his spirit to Yue. This only happens until Nisha's death. Because it is not an eternal bond.

I have only worked a single job in food service, and swore it off for the rest of my life. I worked as the busboy (there is no female version of this as far as I know) at this small local restaurant and it was complete hell for me. My job was just to pick up plates and put them in a bin to bring to the dishwasher, but the fucking dishwasher only showed up two or more hours after opening and we'd be out of plates and as my job was to deal with plates, I started washing the dishes. Then I'd get yelled at for being in the back and not picking up the plates from customers while I'm trying to make sure we even have plates. Not only that but my OCD was very severe around this time, so the fact I was dealing with food without gloves on had me taking a quick skip to the bathroom every twenty minutes to wash my hands. I was paid sub minimum wage and was meant to make it up with tips (how the fuck does a busboy make tips?!) and got scammed out of my money by the older workers because I trusted them. They didn't want to pay me because they felt I wasn't doing my job so they would lie on the till and say I made enough tips and just give me like a twenty at the end of the night. The straw that finally broke the camel's back was when the owner told me to clean out the crawfish boiler. Now if you aren't familiar with crawfish, they're basically tiny lobsters that you boil live in a bunch of spicy water. This boiler was the size of ME, a six foot by three foot by three foot metal coffin with a single drain for the water. Now, they use so much spice that it turns into an actual slurry at the bottom of the boiler that has to be washed out. I was not given a hose. I was given gloves and told to scoop out the muck by hand. Keep in mind, I'm already struggling with OCD dealing with food, and now I'm meant to hang over the rim of a metal box and hand scoop what is functionally mud filled with bug parts by hand with nothing but cheap thin gloves on. I took a single handful, felt so sick to my stomach that I spent a good ten minutes retching and dry heaving into the grass behind the building and went into the building, flipped my hat that I had to wear, onto the counter and quit on the spot. I am always nice to servers, and always tip well because I know that shit is hell and they are not being paid a reasonable wage.

Tbh - the chance of this being woke slop like amost everything that cames from the west nowadays is higher than it not being it - but instead of judging it as being woke slop when we literally DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT IT yet (not if it is even an avatar series) i will wait for the first trailers and the first episode to judge it like any rational people, the Main charachter being a girl, black and/or disabled dosen't automatically means the product will be woke and everyone that does that is just harming our fight against the liberals that infest our culture with their political nonsense (ironically they turned into what they fight against)

"Sexual tension and chemistry are the quickest thing to fade in a relationship" sounds like 1) a skill issue and 2) puritan non-sense that forgets that old people fuck too. Like the "spark going out" is not a fact of life or inevitability in a relationship, it just means that something else is going on, like hormonal changes, medications, life just being kind of hard at that moment, relationship issues in general etc. The "spark going out" is an indication of something else going on and sometimes it can be resolved, sometimes not, these things are pretty complicated because people are complicated. I feel like Lily doesn't know the difference between excitement of being with a new partner and just having a really good chemistry with someone. One fades and the other just gets better with time like a fine wine, when a couple comes to know each other more intimately and are able to be more vulnerable with each other.

To be fair, wokeism is a real thing that has been ruining many, many IP's over the last few years. However, I agree this isn't one of those things. The people who are upset about these supposed leaks and calling them woke, or condemning them for its woke DEI stuff, they are beyond the capability of critical thought. They have become what it is they sought out to destroy, an extreme ideology with no wiggle room for using their brain. Even if these rumored leaks turn out to be true, I'm on board. I will see it for myself before I say anything.
