Note your comments re first goal, but Kilman is poor running back, very slow and exposed by a slow central midfield. Lack of leadership at the back, feel Kilman needs a more dominant partner, certainly not the error prone Mavropanos.

Nice analysis of the improved pressing, but I'd probably argue that Leno makes the error by passing to Pereira (who only had bad options). Under JL, he'd probably have aimed for Iwobi/Robinson who would have been free/under little pressure

For me it’s all about distances. Previously we’d have 4 players high but then rest of the team miles back. So when the press is broken the opponent has all the time and space. Now we are moving up and down the pitch together, as it should be. If you’re gonna press you have to press all the way, otherwise you’re just creating gaps for the opposition to play in.

Good Analysis data driven and easy to follow. Pressing can be done when the players are fresh. When we had three years in Europe in our legs that dropped off for obvious reasons. Now we don't have that workload we should be able to do that without worrying about some players through lack of energy not supporting the press. If Potter wants to press he should be free to implement it now. Looking forward (a long way) we will need to fill out the squad so if we get back into Europe we can keep the players fresh. I think our low block was out of necessity. Remembering the Leverkusen game we ran out of gas after an hour. If we had tried to do that in the league as well the players would have been wasted.

Hi Jack, regarding the still frame shown, as you may recall, the first Vardy "goal" was ruled out for offside. I love your team's work, but I still don't understand how we lost 3-1.

Interesting analysis and thoughts, I was at the game and also watched the game the following day to confirm my initial reaction to Potter’s changes. Kudus imo had a good game, he appeared to be man marked and on receipt of the ball had another two or three player’s quickly around him, they obviously saw him as a major threat and tactically tried to cancel him out.

I live in Australia and have for years watched every match live on T.V. but latley just watched o catchup, now though the excitment has returned, its live Hammers for me again, I could not believe just how much our team had improved under Graham Potter, a really good appointment at last, go Hammers go.

The good feeling that Potter is bringing reflects across all aspects from the relief and excitement for the fans, improvement to key players like Paqueta and Alvarez as well as giving something good and tangible for you to analyse. It does expose to me how complicated the job of manager/coach is but how much more reassuring it is to have a manager who is up to the job. Like you explained it is so much better when the players strengths are being utilised that is better for the team, better for the players themselves and so much better for the fans enjoyment. With Lopetegui it felt he learnt nothing either from all the alleged time he was watching the team prior to joining and then in the time in the job and damaging the team and the players in the process. As you also said there are points where Potter has had to adjust when things are not working and that will always happen as there is an opposing manager also trying to set up the best against him. I find your calm analytical comments so interesting and rewarding and believable as opposed to some social media knee jerk standard reactions along the lines of no passion no effort etc regardless of whether those comments are true or not. Keep up the great work and wish you every success with the channel.

Was definitely an improved performance! Loppy’s tactics reminded me of a broken clock, sometimes he got it right (Ipswich at home and Newcastle away) but like a broken clock- it’s right twice a day lol, was so chaotic with the changes, hopefully potter finds his best team whilst keeping the other players hungry and involved, I’m confident he will :)

There is no such thing as bad players at this level...you guys were slagging Alvarez 3 weeks ago. Nice to see you recognize how proper coaching and a suitable system has such an impact. Imagine potter getting kudus (also slagged off) and bowen and summerville firing. Upside is immense.

He's just criminally underrated. A player who gets written off way too soon, too frequently, only to prove his worth time and time again. We always say that all we want players to do is give 100% and Soucek does that every minute he's on the field. Love him. - Charlie

Kudus was fouled relentlessly and couldn’t even get a free kick from the ref. I bet his calves are peppered with holes from all the studs he took. His shirt is probably a size bigger now, too. I was surprised it wasn’t ripped he was held so often, on and off the ball. The tactic worked but shouldn’t have been allowed.

I'm currently editing a video about the Fulham match with them included which should be out within the next 24 hours! For the Breakdown specifically, including stills and other elements is something we've definitely considered. We choose not too though as it was originally an audio-only show and is still available on all podcast platforms, so those who listen would have a much worse experience. - Charlie
