Hi there..but I have a question..I changed the hoses but I am still having code(p0171) so can you help me to see what’s the problem..thanks..
@JeffLyle18 күн бұрын
Did you use a code reader to clear the codes after you changed the hoses? If not, it could take time to complete a successful drive cycle for the codes to go away on their own. If you don’t have a scanner/reader, you can go to autozone or oriellys and ask them to clear it. If you did clear it and it came back then you still have something causing the lean condition. I’d start with doing a smoke test to check for vacuum leaks somewhere else. If you have other codes like misfire, check spark plugs and fuel injectors. If you have o2 sensor codes too, then change the sensor. Also try cleaning the MAF sensor if you have a MAF code.

Do you have to top off the radiator with coolant or will the coolant from the tank find its way into the radiator?
@JeffLyle19 күн бұрын
Just the upper reservoir needs topped off. Then let it run until the car warms up and the thermostat opens to let it cycle through the radiator and the engine. Then turn your heater on to let it cycle through the heater core. Then top off the reservoir again if needed.

I have a 2015 ATS. How would you know this was the issue? I have an oil leak and 3 mechanics, including the stealership don't know the issue. I had check engine light on(code 1101) and the pcv tubes were broken and replaced. They thought that was cause of oil leave but it was not. I didn't think it was as I was getting too much oil leaking for those tubes to be the cause. I don't smell any oil burning but I have oil stains on driveway.
@JeffLyle2 ай бұрын
although I've never experienced a P1101 personally, I can see how a broken PCV line could cause the computer to think the MAF was not working properly. Hopefully that issue is resolved now. Normally you get the lean code P0171 from the vacuum leak first. As far as the oil leak goes, it is best to find the fresh wet oil drop under the car and do your best to trace it up to where it came from. The hardest part with these cars is all the plastic panels underneath that can make it hard to do. If you dont smell burning oil though, chances are it is not related to the turbo feed or return line. That sucker gets very hot and will definitely burn the oil.
@locutus11262 ай бұрын
@@JeffLyle the code went away and they told me no leaky oil and valve cover gasket was not the issue. Drove home car seemed fine. Next day I was going to work. When I sped up to get on Expressway, car started to shake. Check engine light flashung, traction control and service stabililok message came on. After 30 seconds, it turned off. But once I slowed down or sped up, I could feel the shaking. I called dealership, they said its a different problem, it will be a new work order. I had a scanner, got code p0302. Engine misfire. That explains the shaking. I have to bring it to someone else, not driving car in the meantime. I thought maybe something got wet, I let it dry out but it still does it. In idle its ok, but once I speed up, I can feel it. I looked on cadillac forums and reddit. Quiet a few instances regarding this but no concrete solution.
@JeffLyle2 ай бұрын
@@locutus1126since it’s not a random misfire code and it’s isolated to #2, I would suggest swapping the plug in #2 to another cylinder. Then go drive it and see if the misfire moves with the “bad” plug. If it doesn’t, then move the coil packs. If the code moves to the cylinder that the bad part went too, you will know what needs to be replaced.
@locutus11262 ай бұрын
@@JeffLyle I did that yesterday, when I took out the ignition coil, the pocket was full of oil. I checked the others and they had oil as well. So I assume that is the issue. Like others, I made the mistake of trying to install the belt with the manual trans in gear. I wasted 1 hour trying to figure out why you were easily cranking the engine over, and mine kept bouncing back to its original spot. I even used a long breaker bar with a cheater pipe, got the pulley to move but only so far. Thankfully no damage was done. Once I put it in Neutral, it was a breeze! When I first started the engine, I had a ticking sound for about 30 seconds that went away. I was worried that something happened. Was your front right door speaker loud before you installed the amp? If so it probably isn’t an amp issue. My experience was when the factory amp went bad, all the speakers went quiet gradually over time. If that was your case too, then check all the connections to make sure they are plugged in. If that doesn’t work I’d call mobile car audio to rule out the amp being bad. If you’ve had previous car audio work done, I’d be willing to bet some of that previous work has failed.
