@38:30 - Watch the guy get up from the audience and dance. He's got the right idea! Finally this lackadaisical audience comes to life.

Can't believe the audience isn't going crazy. I'm 73 and have heard the name Carl Perkins before, but never saw a picture or videos of him until tonight (9/14/2024) !!! What a handsome (6' 1"), humble, super-talented man! Which all other musicians admired more than any other. Even though there was only three years difference between Perkins and Elvis, it feels like Elvis copied Perkins (don't get me wrong, I appreciated Elvis as well). And how wonderful that Perkins was a faithful husband, and remained faithful all his life to one woman. Can't believe the audience isn't going crazy.

Fantastic. Carl Perkins with so many talented others. Ringo really at his best and yes he could actually sing. George Harrison, Eric Clapton, Roseanne Cash, The Stray Cats, plus other very talented artists. Wonderful. 💖

George wanted to use his absolute favourite guitar and the guitar he recorded almost Everything on When he Finally got it in 1964 untill he died : The Fender Stratocaster. George tried to buy a Fender Stratocaster in 1956 but the guitar salesman Said that the Stratocaster did not exist in England because of a US embargo. When the embargo was lifted in 1964 George immidiately got a Fender Stratocaster. And from Then he recorded almost exclusively with The Fender Stratocaster for the rest of his life. George Harrison is known in musical circles as ” the biggest fan of the Fender Stratocaster of all musicians ”. The reason you did not see The Beatles in concerts or videos with Stratocasters was because Fenderr tried to bribe the Beatles manager Brian Epstein who got furious at Fender and forbid the Beatles to use Stratocasters in public. Brian Epstein however allowed George Harrison to use the Fender Stratocaster as much as he wanted in the studio and George certainly did that. After Brian died George immidiately appeared in fron of 800 million viewers on a global satelite broad cast with his belowed Fender Stratocaster called Rocky. The reason he could not use the Stratocaster with Carl Perkins was because George Garrisons wife 2 weeks earlier bought him a real expensive guitar from 1957 and George felt it would have been to humiliate her not to use it. George really did not like Gretsch guitars at all. But in the beginning They were the only half decent guitars to be found in England because of the US embargo. Gretsch found away Around the embargo since the owner had emigrated from Germany.

Interesting, but I wonder how George would have been able to afford a Fender Strat in 1956. He would have been only 13 then.

Great to see Carl get recognition from all those guys. Paul McCartney was quoted saying if it wasn’t for Carl Perkins the Beatles would’ve never been.

What I love about Carl Perkins is, this was his tune, but he was genuinely happy to let Ringo sing it. Some artists would be prima donnas, and insist on having the spotlight. Carl Perkins, in addition to being a great songwriter, and perhaps the greatest rockabilly artists of all time, I think was genuinely flattered to have the great ex-Beatle Ringo perform one of his tunes. I think he loved sharing his music, and the fact that some of the best rock musicians of all time idolized him was as gratifying as if he'd had the same success as Elvis, the Beatles, and other greats who had performed his tunes. He didn't get the recognition he deserved from the larger public, but he sure did from his fellow professionals.

I’m sure the Beatles put a lotta greenbacks in the Carl Perkins bank account.
