Stan Polley was Satan himself. Throughout his career, Polley defrauded a number of clients and associates, most notably Badfinger. He is why we don’t have Pete & Tom!

If McCartney had any notion of what was coming down the pike (John releasing "Instant Karma" as a single seven months later) there's no doubt he would have released this track himself a là Mabye I'm Amazed. And done a better job, IMO.

This was interesting how Paul wrote this song in one night and told them to sing just like he wrote. It worked!!
@MikeBUSA21 күн бұрын
Not only that, but he came into the studio earlier than the band and recorded all the parts before they even got there. Everybody took a turn singing it to see who had the better voice - including Ron Griffiths. Joey Molland wasn't in the band yet.

I have an underrated opinion here, but I think “Maybe Tomorrow” is sorta up there with “In My Life” by the Beatles.

This sounds like The Beatles at the Cavern Club in Liverpool. But what was to come such great music from them and the most extreme sadness for themselves down the road.

If I could make a crazy wish it would be that the night Pete committed suicide that after they left the bar Tommy would have reminded Pete of this song. If he had talked Pete out of it then perhaps both wouldn’t have left us. When I have felt down from time to time I listen to this song and I’m ready to face another day.

I always find this VDO slightly amusing. I think it’s the 3 guys standing in.the background and his laugh to himself when he hits the higher notes

Do it again and again. This is what you call a great apprenticeship given by Paul McCartney which Badfinger took on board and which pushed them to high level in both their recording and their songwriting.

Very interesting. Paul pushing the band (or micro-managing, as he was wont to do with his own band), and the Iveys were obviously nervous.

As mentioned towards the end of this video, Paul slowed it down a bit. Their voices sounding nothing like the record unless slowed at least a half step, sounds more like a full step to me. Obviously a homerun for the band!
