Can a P0871 code be caused by not having enough transmission fluid? I have a 68RFE with 237k. I believe I lost the 5th gear too. Shifted a little hard after stopping and going again. I stopped to visit someone then left again it ran fine. I just cleared the code and just fluid level. It's between the Cold and Hot pair of check points. I checked the level at a transmission temp of 176.

I know this is a Cummins platform taterbuilt but I’m lml based and was suggested a taterbuilt vgt. There isn’t much info in the duramax world with tater built. What’s the opinion compared to a calibrated power/ duramax tuner or a stainless diesel?

Why would they do that? The point of a 2nd gen swap is to get rid of the vgt turbo for a fixed vane turbo and of course the better flowing manifold. Lower drive pressure/more power and reliability when going fixed vane

Why not get the unique sound of the second gen manifold but also get the cool exhaust brake sounds I know a fix vane with always be more reliable and make more power but the better flow of a second get should also help a vgt and make some cool sounds

@@micahjiganie5298 The VGT would likely cover up any sound that the manifold itself may net you if I were a betting man. That's the only reason I can think for someone not already doing it.

Love the 5th gens, but tbh we can’t afford one, so our very cherry and built 4th gen will do just fine. Until then, I’ll watch your content with my son, we love us some diesel tuning 🤘🏽🤘🏽So bad ass!

The power numbers aren't almost the same, the numbers are just made at a similar RPM. Most likely because of the aftermarket camshaft. A stock cam would make peak torque much lower, closer to 1,500 rpm.

Not a bad video. I don’t recall that plate and gasket last time I swapped the solenoid. But now I’m doing a revmax valve body. In my 50’s and my memory is (to me) kinda shoddy. 😊

I wonder what we work on 16 years ago, when the company first opened up. Diesel trucks. Same as today , but we have a greater goal. @POINTBLANKPERFORMANCE anything you worked on 16 years ago would have been metric as well, going as far back as a 7.3 powerstroke 25 years ago, to a 12 valve cummins 30 years ago used metric. Gonna have to go further back than 16 years lol. I'm a subscriber to your channel because you have some cool builds, I just found it funny, no disrespect.

How you doing guys ? I question When you put a 4gen on a 5gen what do you do with the flywheel? I’m doing this swap and the flywheel bots are not the same size also I can’t put the factory 5 gen flywheel on the 4gen because the crankshaft bolt are not the same to so what do you do on this case ?

I would check immediately, the wire that goes to the heater inside the banks horn. Not normal.
