How to you weed through trinket toys with a child that is emotionally attached to most things? This may be a me problem I realize haha.

Not good enough. Need a solid strategy. Start with the entryway, or mudroom, whichever is the most used. Then go on to . . . well, that's enough for a reply to a short. The key idea here is to start with the smallest room that well give you the largest amount of satisfaction when it is done.

you did not coin the term minimal-ish!

Own less stuff! This is the ONLY way to get your spaces and your budget under control. Believe me, been there done that, owning less stuff and living debt free are the best forms of self care.

I pour contents into smaller, clear bottles and leave that in a slotted container in the shower. The container moves around in the shower for easy clean and not form any moldy rings. I also use larger hand towels for bath towels so they don't fill up the washing machine as much.

Can I ask something you've seemed to overlook. What if both you and your spouse work outside the home? And you're overwhelmed and you're buried and stuff? I know very few households anymore that are able to afford being a one income household. #notworkingoutsidethehome #noexcuses

I love those small zipper bags for cords. We had a "cord bag" that was my old medical bag and we couldnt find anything in it. 😅 I donated the bag and we got one of those small zipper things. We keep one extra cord for our phones and one for our Kindles that have the older style USB. If theres an "emergency" with some other kind of cord, we'll get one from amazon I donate or hazmat USB cords that come with new items since for us it just ends up being clutter.

Don't "work hard" under capitalism. You're being exploited.

Back when I was living on my brothers couch during the recession of 2008-2012, I asked his girlfriend if she’d pay me five bucks to straighten up her house. She kept it clean, but it was not tidy. My specialty is tidy, but not cleaning. So it doesn’t take long to tidy a house. When she came back it looked like an immaculate castle! Easiest five dollars ever.

I prefer a little clutter (don’t mind kids toys scattered about, some books….proof of living sort of stuff) in a clean environment. It doesn’t matter how tidy my house is, if the floors/surfaces are not clean, I can’t stand it. Obvs have to tidy to clean…but clutter accumulates fast, which feels like no big deal if it’s on clean surfaces. Each to their own 😊

Will be following….. I like to keep my home very clean, but can easily accumulate stuff that later becomes a project to declutter. Because I have organizers for pretty much everything, the clutter is not noticeable, until I run out of space to put things away and need to get rid of things, then I am stuck with a hefty project.

If someone is keeping their home clean on a regular basis, there's less to do two days before everyone shows up to gossip and eat.

Audrey...I've got something for you, and it's very encouraging. It's an article that was in NewsMax about 10 years ago, and I have used it all of these years only with the permission and request of the recipient. It gives folks a way to be pro-active rather than sitting helpless staring wide eyed at the doctors. It is 9 factors that a group of doctors have compiled that folks have in common to become miracle survivors. I use as a way of living everyday life. It is 3 pages so just reply to me with your email address and I'll send it to you (and everyone else).
