My father had one in the mid 1960’s. I remember helping by hand harvesting two rows to open up fields, otherwise the tractor knocked them down. Other than being very slow, it actually did a great job!

Before Grandpa got the JD 4400, dad said we had two Case pull type combines. There are parts of one in the grove. I found the books for them. I'm only 40 urs old, but i love the old equipment and tractors better than the modern stuff. I grew up on a Ford 8n, and still use it for lots of farm work. Plus many other small tractors that get yearly work.

Great restoration of old Ford chopper wish I could find information on who built the model 605 chopper for Ford but that is a great restoration
@ford9000puller2 ай бұрын
From everything I have found they were built by ford. A few of the components are the same as other ford implements. Gear box housing is the same as the Ford brush hogs, one of the pulleys is the same as the mounted picker main drive pulley, row divider rod support on the head is 1/2 of a Ford tractor lift arm

We had the same exact set-up other than the 961 was a diesel. We also had the sheller attachment, Ford 501 3pt sickle mower, Ford baler, and Ford 2 bottom plow. Do you guys still run them in the fall? I'm from Chilhowee Missouri. I would love to come see the Fords in action if you do!!!
@ford9000puller4 ай бұрын
Yes we still run them. Be glad to have you come watch. Planted corn late this year behind oats that I baled trying to make up hay from last years drought. So it will still be a while before we pick. Send me an email with your phone number. [email protected]

I recently acquired a Ford 601 16-65 picker. Serial no. 5130. Was told it's a 1954 . First year built? It has a " low tin" snout on the right side that is similar to the left. Have not seen another like it. The picker is in very good original condition except for some barnyard partial repaint. Are you familiar with this type of snout? I don't have social media. Just here thanks.

My dad bought one new in1966 ran it a lot I enjoyed it was a great built piece of equipment very dependable it was painted blue the 605 was built by Oliver for Ford dad was a dairy Farmer he bought it in Holly springs Mississippi it was the only one In our area didn't take.a.lot of horse power to use to get the job.done I'm 76years old now and every year around August and September it comes back to mind I feel like I'm 17again cutting corn for silage I really enjoyed using that ford605 forage harvesting corn and pulling it with dads 340 Farmall tractor

On our farm in Northwest Missouri we used our 2 row corn picker on our 960 Ford, and afterward we traded the 960 for a new row crop Fordson Major Diesel and it worked great, It had more power than the 960 and it was a heavier tractor, perfect for picking corn.

Woods brothers make that
@ford9000puller Жыл бұрын
It’s basically a newer version of the Dearborn Woods Brothers. Ford changed from the Dearborn name to Ford on the implements in 1955. There are a few improvements to the Ford pull type vs the Dearborn Woods Brothers but overall design is very similar
@thegreenerthemeaner Жыл бұрын
The 6000 had the first Select-o-speed transmission with no coasting gears. It just wasn't thoroughly tested yet. The fix was minor. The defective wrist pins was another killer. What Deere came out with the next year sealed it's fate. Had Ford taken just a little more engineering time, they would have been a solid #2 because the 560s were eating rear ends. They were smooth and pulled 5-14s well. Any attempt to get more power out of them lead to sure destruction of the wrist pins and pistons.
@42lookc Жыл бұрын
Boy, talking about setting themselves and everyone else in their industry up for disaster... The Ford 6000 was one of the coolest tractors ever built, but a long, long piece from the best.
