The 6000 was one of a kind. Too bad there hadn't been a little more time and care placed in its design. The only thing it was missing was an answer to Roll-O-Matic narrow fronts, and flat top fenders for more comfort and dust protection. That said it is a little hard to picture it with flat tops.

Trying to pull 5-14's with a 6000? No wonder they didn't last long. Sharp styling and tin work doesn't mean it's going to run well or last very long.And every time somebody mentions the Ford 6000 the first thing you heard ...... "wrist pins" Leaving Ford with 2 choices.....get competitive or get out of the tractor business.

I’ve talked to numerous guys who pulled 5 14s with no problems. I’ve pulled 5 14s with our 1961 model and it walks the dog. Talked to a fellow collector over the weekend that said his dad bought one new and put an M&W turbo on it and pulled 5 16s for years. Only thing he said they replaced was the input shaft once.

This engine was also a Red Tiger? The Red Tigers in the smaller tractors were solid performers. This one had horrible wrist pins that led to the disdain of these tractors. That and Deere had released the New Generation at the same time. Imagine the horror at Phord Motor Company of this tarnishing after the Edsel still in peoples' minds. Farmall had their problems with 560 rear ends. Everyone else was warming over their old machines with newer sheet metal and a few new gimmicks. Here was a totally new tractor that belly flopped. Too many people in the green and yellow camp didn't care about the 1010 and 2010 being almost as bad as the 6000. The 3010, 4010 and the slightly later 5010 had the attention. I ran one of the diesel 6000s for a neighbor for a few years and it was fine until he turned it up trying to keep pace with the 4010s. Then it followed the vast majority of them with a knocking, clattering kaboom end. Man they were a smooth good sounding engine otherwise.

Good day thegreenerthemeaner. I'm from Ont. Our neighbor was ford man. Yes he said the red tiger motor was very good. So he bought used 6000, I think crank went. Bought another one I forget what went wrong. Then he bought 5000, ending up 7710. Thanks

Just got old one. Drained fluids n fixed it up it’s freaking cool AF

@@ford9000puller how do you get belts off and on though? Trying to get belts off to replace because replacing water pump

@@ford9000puller having heck of a time. Took forever tonight but got pump in front loosened were hoping to pull away from were it hooks up to water pump
