Hi Gary, thanks for watching the video and I'll look out for your name next time we gather around for a screening in my household. Since you worked on the film, do you know where the bridge where the car disappears and the house in the movie are? I'd love to know. We tried looking for them a couple years ago to no success in Harrisville. We found the church, police station, museum, and graveyard though. Just holding out for the elusive ones.

Too few people know about this movie. My friend Andrew introduced me to it, some years ago, which is ok as I am not gay as a result of seeing it, but I am happy.

Saw this in school for some weird reason, wasn’t even French class. Dinner for schmucks is a poor excuse of a movie compared to this god damn gem.

I almost agree to everything you've said about the picture Paddy. Except for the English subtitles. Being Dutch, thanks to the educational system of the Netherlands I'm lucky to not only speak Dutch but also a little English and a just enough French to understand the dialogs in French and discover the witty aspects of Chitemeux and compare that to Duch subtitles and English subtitles aswel. I'm sorry to say so, but in translation a lot of the funniness gets lost. I've visited Bergues at least five times and the dialect in the movie is a bit overdone but, so near the Belgium border and in a region that up to a century ago a kind of Flemish (Belgium-Dutch) was spoken by a lot of people It's quite easy to get along with the locals. The tourists office sells a lot of gadget related to this movie. Ch'tis dictionary, Ch'tis jig saw puzzles of all kind of "Biloutes" , Ch'Tis mugs and glasses and off course 'Ch'tis' Beer (Amber and Blond). The local speciality is "Potjesvleesch" A Dutch word meaning jarred meat. Dunkerque, the biggest city nearby Bergues we visit al least five times a year to get some typical French groceries (at Auchan at the commercial of Grande Synthe 0f Carrefour in St. Pol). And yes, just like in Belgium they sell lovely chips in the northern part of France. I recommend all English to learn a little French and take the DFDS ferry from Dover to Dunkerque (or Duinkerken) and see the statue of Jean Bart (eg Jan Baard or in English John Beard, the Dunkerque pirate) Or, by a DVD, buy a Blu-Ray or stream this wonderfull French comedy

José Santiago, the actor from El Moreno (the blackie whose finger Torrente broke) was famous when he was a child. In a Spanish program from the 60s - 70s titled Los Chiripitiflauticos: kzbin.info/www/bejne/boSspZ57orySo8Usi=fSNT97t8XgjTdik He is in the minute 23:39 and to avoid confusion, his character is called Barullo (Noise). Unfortunately he died in October 2022 due to cerebral hypotussis 😞

This was one of four movies I watched, flying from Dubai to Sydney...and it was one of the best French movies I've ever had the pleasure of watching. Great humor, great characters and a really great script. LOVED IT!

I kind of liked the way train to busan did the emotional drama, it didn’t feel cheesy to me, I think both movies are equally good in different ways. I am a hero reminds me a lot more of anime and it doesn’t have the kind of broad appeal as train to busan. Some people may find the level of gore in I am a hero to be a bit off putting. Even with all the intense gore in I am a hero, I found train to busan more riveting and I cared about those characters more.

If there are to be sequels It would be a multi movie series that would most likely take 8 to 5 movies because of how batshit insane the ending and how much world building to it. You could include spin off movies because during the manga it splits off from our main protag Hideo to a group of surviviors using padded shields to defend themselves. So its quite an interesting world to make a movie series out of.

This is the sort of movie that will take the viewer to a specific time and place. You just have to turn down the lights, grab the popcorn, and wonder. Intriguing adult mystery and very different in tone from a lot of popular films from the mid-80's. Tough source material to adapt into film!

Just watched this for the first time tonight. Felt like watching something different. I don't watch Sci fi that much tbh but I quite enjoyed this movie. Quite mysterious and creepy with aliens too. 👽 Nice review and breakdown of the movie 🎬 👌 Ps I liked Charlie Sheen in this.

Luis de "Funes" as in Loch "Ness"! He is one of the greatest comedians of all time! To the point people would laugh anytime they would see him! Even at funerals, reason why he stopped showing there! Even if it was someone he knew! Great talent, comes at high coast!

Big math blunder in the movie. They take the percent increases of four greenhouse gases and add them together to get a 700% increase. the math doesn't work that way! Come on people that's like sixth grade math!

I absolutely LOVE this film - I’ve watched it more times than I can recall. It’s by far my favourite French comedy, if not indeed my favourite French film. ‘The Closet’ is indeed an absolute corker too, I would thoroughly recommend that Francis Veber film, as well as ‘The Valet’ (Le Doublure), which stars Gad Elmaleh as the François Pignon character. PS - and speaking of the Pignon character… his first name is pronounced ‘Fron-swah’, not ‘Francis’. Tres bon. C’est ça. 😊

Yeah, back then they didn't send their fairest and brightest to the monasteries. Bastards, deformed by nature or incest, orphans; it's pretty much the back story of most initiates in the monastic orders around that time (before it as well).

That was a great movie, worthy of a Sherlock murder mystery, I was a kid in 1986 so I didn't get to see it, but I watched it by chance when it showed up on TV one night in Toronto few years later, when I was a teen, and I liked it the minute I saw it, I even brought the VHS tape on this movie at that time too, a well done movie :)
