Departures is a heartwarming story, which also provides a wonderful insight into Japanese culture, particularly the encoffining ceremony of “Nokanshi”, which is minimally practiced in today’s society.

I discovered this movie while feeling emotionally bankrupt..I'm here to say that never have I seen such a great film that reached me in such a profound way ! Highly recommend to anyone with an open mind towards other cultures and their traditions. Saw it years ago and NEVER forgot it!
