Regards to heatshields, maybe painting them before mounting will keep paint from entering gaps thus giving more detail?

The heat shields extend further onto the tail so for me it makes sense to paint together. I did not glue the shingles in place but put them on the model for the painting.

I don't know what the material is, I got some metal rods tied together with a flexible string and I decided to see if I could stretch it like sprue... and it worked.
