What did that poor frog ever do to you!? Just kidding I love it 😂😊
@carolynzakiКүн бұрын
😂🤣😂 It’s actually based on the green tree frogs that squeeze into tiny gaps between the bricks in my house. Whenever I see them squished into spaces smaller than their usual height I imagine how squished I would feel if I had to squeeze into such a narrow space… thus the idea for the squashed frog door stopper was born 😂🤣😂 I was surprised when some people said I was being cruel because I’ve only ever imagined our Australian green tree frogs purposely squeezing themselves into tiny crevices and imagining how exhausting that must be 😂😂😂

Hi! I'm trying this pattern for my godmother, I just have a little problem the body of the frog is pointy it may be my doing or the yarn I used, it's thicker than yours but do you know if I can fix this or if it will affect to project in any way??? Thanks a lot for the pattern it's really easy to follow and I can't wait for the end result
@carolynzaki2 күн бұрын
Hi, The only thing I can think of that would cause the body to become pointy is if you stack your increases on top of increases from the previous rounds or place them too close together in one round. You need to place the increases between the increases from the previous rounds and spread them evenly around each round. If you have put increases close together or stacked them on increases from previous rounds you would get pointy sections. In that case, you would need to undo some of your work, back to where the pointy parts start. As to whether they will affect your project, it probably depends on what you are using to fill your frog. The solid lawn bowls ball or bocce balls would help to push any bumps flatter if it is a tight squeeze to fit them in. If you are planning to use stuffing, you could test it out now by stuffing what you've completed so far very firmly with fibre stuffing and see whether you still have pointy sections... I hope it works out for you and I hope your godmother loves it 🥰

@@carolynzakithanks for the help! I was more talking about the start of the work where my magic ring is, it's kind of poking out and the work in general is more in a cone shaped that it's supposed to be at this stage (around row 10)
@carolynzakiКүн бұрын
@@ash_the_crow9707 umm, could it be round 4? The increases there should prevent it from becoming a cone shape… R1: MR 8sc (8), R2: (Inc, sc) x4 (12), R3: (inc, 2sc) x 4 (16), R4: (inc, sc) x 8 (24)

Do you use the same size hook for all of the frog. I love the little guy!
@carolynzaki7 күн бұрын
@@cbonn4522 I used a 5 mm hook for the legs, body and head, a 4 mm hook for the eyes and a 3.5 mm hook for the tongue. You could use the same size for all of these parts if you can buy yarn in the same thickness for each colour. I was limited by the yarn sizes that are available in my area. I couldn’t buy green and white yarn in the same thickness. I chose to use a narrower yarn for the tongue because I liked how it looked with a narrower yarn 🧶 🐸

@carolynzakiАй бұрын
Hi Suzanne, Thank you for noticing I've missed the stitch count for round 8. I added it to the description. You'll notice in the video that there are increases in round 8. The pattern for the arms and legs is the first part I've described how to make in the video. It's at 2:58. I've actually made 2 options for the toes. In this video I used Magic rings in a contrasting colour for the toe pads and 16 fdc for the front legs and 18 fdc for the back legs with 4 chain from the fdc to the toes. Then sew the stitches together to make a little hand where all the chains meet. I hope you have fun making your own little squashed frog door stopper!

I forgot to add… I’ve made a separate video for the smaller toe option.

What’s the diameter of the ball you use?
@carolynzaki2 ай бұрын
The ball is about 12 cm (4.75 in) in diameter. The circumference is 39 cm (15.5 in). The ball I used in the tutorial is a lawn bowls ball, which is flatter on the top and bottom sides. It's about 13 cm across and 11 cm (4 3/8 in) high.

Love this! Just wondering, would you only use a weighted ball in the tummy of the frog, or use a smaller one for the head as well? Thanks so much, love the tutorial ❤
@carolynzaki2 ай бұрын
You only need a weighted ball in the body. I experimented with a cut tennis ball in the head, but the shaping in the crochet pattern is enough to keep the shape and you don’t need weight on both sides. You can also fill the body with tights filled with stones, or other small weighted things, but I prefer the recycled heavy ball option because of the beautiful shape it gives.
