That was a lake trout, they have a deeply forked tail. Specks have a flat paddle like tail. The two species can breed together and the offspring is called a splake.

New subscriber. Your video came up in my feed this morning. Paddling around in Ontario, I sometimes forget how beautiful the other provinces are. Very much enjoyed this video. Thank you for sharing. Cheers, Rob.

Hi guys, I see that all that video of us arriving at site #24 on the morning of your day 4, our day 3 didn’t make it into the Final Cut. It was very nice meeting you and we wish we could have spent more time swapping canoeing tales. We hide under the tarp most of that day. We will be returning this coming September for our second trip around the Circuit. Very much enjoyed your video. Art and Renee

I think the word portage must translate, "To suffer greatly but tell yourself its fun". That is beautiful country up there around Missinipe and i love canoeing there. Ric is very knowledgeable and helpful to get you on your way. Thanks for sharing! Great video work.

We are doing this trip this coming weekend, did you find you were pushing for time or was it more of a relaxed pace? It's only 80km or so, did the backtrack to portage to phillips set you back a full day? The portage looked that gross eh?

We were not pushed for time but we had 6 days. From what we remember the portage at the end is steep and narrow. If you do it let us know how it went. Have fun!

And that is why you don't bring glass on a camping trip. Is it really that hard to pour a shot? Thanks for sharing your trip. You showed the young ones.

Ok… I have to ask… how old was your crew to tackle those gruelling portages and 14 days in the wild? You guys are crazy cool!!! Good job all of you.

Keep being active. It’s just so encouraging… seeing you not being intimidated and just rolling with the punches nature presented you with. Huge desire of mine as I get up there also.

How do you like your souris river canoe as compared to the clipper.
@livingonroadtime724
@livingonroadtime724 3 жыл бұрын
The Clipper is faster, but ours is fibreglass so heavier for portaging. The Souris River is good all around and more stable in rough water. Seats in Clipper are more comfortable and bow seat is adjustable. So we like both canoes for different reasons.

Has any body every fished Setting lake or Brostrom Lake ? Is there any far sized fish in ether lake?
@kevinkern907
@kevinkern907 4 жыл бұрын
The old resort owner is gone. He always said no fish in Brostrom and I don't believe him. There is a campground on Brostrom now. I use boats and canoes I can carry with outboards. If I can carry a boat in can I fish it? On satellite images it appears to be a road or path to the lake just after the bridge. I want to fish that lake and see what's in it.
