Bought additional sand paper set from Amazon. Tested the 400grit and paper seems loose. I’m sanding glass bottles. The glass jumps and bumps. Paper is tight and balanced. I wonder if it is thinner paper causing this. Disappointing as I need to use grit up to 1000. Any ideas will be appreciated.

Enjoyed the video and assembly. Very nice well lit shop and that lathe tool holder with the sloped floor/rest is very interesting - i plan to build one like that soon.

Cool! I am buying an 18, and hopefully for under $2000. Is that a good price, assuming it’s in good condition? What makes one a master turner? Is it in years turning , proof of craft?

I’ve had this lathe for a couple of years, and I’m very disappointed. The starter switch and relay have gone out several times. It’s been a chronic problem, and although they haven’t corrected the defect, once the warranty expired, they wouldn’t replace the part on their dime. The tech person told me it was the switch, so I bought that and installed it but it ended up being the relay causing twice as much downtime and I spent twice as much to fix the problem. I don’t however know how long the fix will last. The kicker was, when I politely…yes, politely…insisted that good customer service would be that they replace the part for free, the Tech Support… read “customer service”!… person hung up on me! Also, the indexing feature is horrible. When you back off the pin that indexes the wheel, it’s loose and tends to wiggle free and ends up on the floor. If you twist it in too far it rattles the plate and probably will eventually affect that part too. We have a Laguna lathe, a smaller model, at the woodturning school that I teach at, and we’ve had nothing but problems with that item too. It’s your choice what you buy, but I think there are a lot of that are options out there. Good luck!

I own this model, and after a month, I have discovered the motor get clogged with dust because it's not a sealed motor. It starts to turn hard and shuts off. I have remove bottom cover and vacuum it out and turn it manually to get it to turn on again. Not a good design since using the 6 inch disc causes the majority of the dust to infiltrate the motor. FYI Buy at your own risk...

Really love this design. I would like to built these to go with my pallet sofa. Are the dimensions listed for one chair or two? I am asking because of the (2) 2x4x33 and (2) 2x4x26 dimensions. I am new to woodworking so I wanted to make sure I was cutting the right amount.😁 Also how many 2x4s did you buy?

Great job! I just wish I had seen this video before i bought a Grizzly jointer that has all of the level set screws in the top of the infeed/outfeed tables. I maybe should have left them alone, but they recommend spending an hour calibrating the tables. It's now been more than four and I'm ready to send this thing back. I've noticed that some benchtop jointers like the Wen you bought have the infeed/outfeed tables basically preset and ready to go out of the box. You're right. It is a home run if all you need to do is check the fence a bit. Craftsman, Grizzly, and some other benchtop jointers have this design which I think is flawed. Thanks for making this video. I was trying to guess your accent and location and I want to say New Jersey or northern Maryland.

Nice video. How heavy is the headstock? Can one person wrastle it on and off? I'm sure you removed that and the tailstock before you moved it to its final position. I know Laguna has a mobile base for it too, if it had to move around a lot. But that might cost enough you'd need to wait on the Tesla :^)

Thanks for watching, I’m happy with the ridgid but I bought it on sale. I believe that sale is over now so the price difference isn’t as great. I don’t love the fence, but I used to have a biesemeyer fence on my delta so everything is “ok” after that beast. The ridgid mobile cart is really really good it was definitely a consideration when looking because I have their mobile cart for my miter Saw.

@@geminibuilder1747 Thanks for replying. I am going to build my saw into a work table. I don't have a garage but I do have a 16x20 shop in the back yard. I build small things, jewelry boxes, crosses, and craft things for VBS events at small churches. I would love to have a hybrid but really think it will not work well in my layout. Thank you again for the response. Hope you have a blessed day. Bro. Reggie
