It’s been almost 4 years and it’s still the ultimate cover of that song for me. Every instrument is spot on and the tempo is just perfect. And you got Mike Fraser as a sound engineer ??? The guy is a total legend in his field having produced countless classics with some of my favorite bands like AC/DC, Rush, Metallica… Very impressive 👍

Angus Young....king of the understatement. I love the way he always gives Mal the credit for everything. He must really miss him.

@@josephcurley8226 Funny you commented on this video, Joseph. I was thinking about this as well a couple of days ago. This is Fil, I still work with AC/DC. Angus and Mal have been amongst the best guitarists of the planet and yet, their attitude has always been the old school, modest, understated one - ever. Still my heroes. After many years some values shine ever brighter.

@SoloDallas I still love them after all these years, they always seemed embarrassed by compliments or made light of it. When I just started playing in the 80s I just used to stare at posters of Mal and Angus on my wall and think 'how could I be like them'.

Andrew - We do. Come to SoloDallas.com (shop, amplifier). It's a JTM50. George made one with tube rectifier but Angus used it with solid state rectifier - which is what we replicated.

I'd like to know how the rhythm guitarist got his tone. That's not easy to replicate. I've been trying for years and have a Gretsch Malcolm Young 1 signature guitar.
@SoloDallas12 күн бұрын
Thanks! We’re using our Filtertron (Solodallas.com) pickup replica. Many Gretsch pickups today are overwound and too powerful. Originals were weaker - you MUST be clean/crunchy at most. A Marshall Superbass is also necessary. As an alternative, a JTM50 (50W) can be used. Next, a good microphone placed appropriately on the speaker cabinet (we use SoloDallas Impulse Responses for this) - which is not easy or intuitive - and lastly, playing it right. Malcolm Young’s style and tone might appear easy but it’s the exact opposite. A cleaner tone, huge strings and a PERFECT sense of timing are really a must to get the proper outcome. Hope it helped, thank you - Fil

So um, I am the only one that noticed the bad lip sync at around the .28 second marker.? As the description says "The rest of the production and the mix down were attained with modern means and technology." Such as the voice? Cause if this guy can actually sing that good, why isn't he on a world tour?
@SoloDallas19 күн бұрын
Appreciate you. No AI in our productions - this one specifically of several years ago. What we do instead is this: SEVERAL takes at once of audio/video. A session takes hours of footage. Audio has its corresponding video, but selecting the matching section is sometimes impossible due to the amount of audio/video taken and if a VIDEO section looks good or close enough we’ll go with it. Singer Michael Vincent appreciates your words - PLEASE stay tuned for MANY more productions in 2025!

Theresa, thanks! I COMPLETELY FUCKED UP Mal’s tone (I PLAYED IT well but the sound is off here. REASON: I did NOT have a Superbass when I recorded this. Had sold them all. Now I bought a couple of them back).
@SoloDallas21 күн бұрын
… as for the speaker/mike type: I remember using the baffled positions. I won’t be specific here and now, but you need to know that I have precise information about the techniques that AC/DC used in the studio repeatedly and repetitively for decades. They almost always went for baffled and angled microphone placements; the reason is that by angling the microphone in a specific way onto the cabinets and at certain distances, you equalize the guitar sound from the source without having to touch equalization in post production. This is the single, richest and most sophisticated technique that a sound engineer can dream to have learned. By providing our impulse responses with those very placements, you have now incredible power at your fingertips. I have barely announced this as a marketing effort, but in the next eight months we plan on running campaigns to let people understand the importance of our impulse responses and the careful microphone placement that we have studied and that no other company has made yet. So to repeat: carefully audition by playing your guitar through the amp all of those microphone placements where you hear off axis, at distance and BAFFLED positions; mix two of those together at different levels and craft your own dream studio tones!
@TheresaFlyOnTheWall21 күн бұрын
@@SoloDallas Thanks yes that’s a good idea I have no clue what I’m doing with the impulse responses. I also think you have to have experience with micing up cabs And I never did that so. But i really want to learn this I really love this tone it just gives me goosebumps ever time I hear it!

I just don't get it. Every band covering AC/DC try to imitate them instead of making it on their own terms. Especially vocal. Like it was a Bryan Johnson's doppelganger contest. Every fuckin time.
