Fil's dedication not only to tone, but touch, time and little intricacies when playing is just crazy! An inspiration.

Your videos, amazing! I would not have considered some on these songs significant until you played them.

I’ve been watching your videos for several years. That song seems so simple but it’s not. It really is tricky to get the tone, the vibrato and the two guitar rhythms to mesh. That was awesome. 👏

SO glad you felt it. I struggled with THIS song for the entirety of my life. I'm 56. I had to work my BUTTOCKS off for days (and it's not the first time I cover this) in HOPES to get it right. I keep on listening to Paul (Kossoff) reminding myself how young he was (they were) and then I go back to my takes and shake my head. They were so amazing. SO much respect. They had nothing, no technical help, no tricks - they did it all themselves by playing. This song is TOUGH. Paul himself was struggling all the time with the rhythm section he came up with (which is BRILLIANT). One of the songs of my humble life. Thanks for watching it!

@@SoloDallas It’s obvious that you played it with your heart as well. Trust me, the work shows. Some songs are milestones to see how your playing stacks up against guys who probably didn’t even realize how amazing they were. You sir have met the mark. Keep them coming. 🫡

Incredible playing mate! Remember watching your video of this song from a few years back, nice to hear it again. Would also be curious to hear your thoughts on how the Murphy aged guitar compares to the '53 conversion! Cheers
@SoloDallas6 ай бұрын
Thanks mate! I didn't do it justice the several times I did this years ago - it's more accurate now (specifically the uber challenging rhythm and timing). They were so tight. Re: comparison between the guitars. I have been known to love the older guitars, for a long, long time now (I'm old!). Then I realized it wasn't fair to only focus on vintage - there are relatively newer guitars which play and sound well. Playability is my MAIN interest, even more than 'sound'. Playability first. Both are great - but they were professionally setup several times. They now play like butter so that *I* can struggle with the parts that I struggle with without fighting the instrument per se - I just struggle with the parts (which are challenging, hence the easier the instrument the better - this has been my philosophy for years now with guitars or in general stringed instruments which are tough on our bodies). Tone wise, they ARE different. The Murphy is very reminiscent of a real Les Paul (I have had several '50s conversions and played a couple of real bursts, I know their deeper character well) but I can hear it's still not a 1950s Les Paul. I hear it immediately. Playing wise they both deliver. Sound wise can be hard to tell them apart ONCE amplified - it's the FEEL that is different. Makes sense?

@@SoloDallas Thank you for the detailed response mate, really appreciate it! I always found the rhythm challenging myself on this song, and I'm completely with you regarding the playability coming before the sound of the instrument. It's also interesting how you point out that you can immediately hear that it's not a 50s Les Paul. Thanks again for the detailed response, and thanks for sharing all the great content over the years
