I almost never eat out anymore, don't go to movies or other entertainment venues, can't afford a vacation, don't need clothes, shoes, household items. Except for things that break or wear out, I don't need any consumer goods. I have probably the last car I will ever buy, all the clothes I need, all the books I can read. My only consumer expenses will be home repairs, utilities, current bills, car upkeep, taxes, food, gas, and medical needs. Eliminating cash would be a huge mistake, as the recent hurricanes have demonstrated. When the power grid goes down, cash is the only way to get the necessities of life.

My Dad gets his oil changed at a dealership. I read over the bill and they charge $1.35 'electronic storage fee' - the whole point of tech (computers, databases, the internet) was to cut costs to make business more efficient (by cutting human labor) yet business creates another 'fee' - this is down right insulting to customers, the working class, human dignity and people's intelligence. I once worked in Big Tech and walked away from its unethical practices in disgust. Thank you for yet another practical video.

I ordered some food online with Uber Eats a few days ago and i was schoked to see the price. I paid around 5 to 6 dollars extra for delivery, and weird fees. I cancelled Amazon prime a couple years ago. I just pick the slowest shipping when I purchase something and that’s usually the free option but not always . I started my Christmas shopping and when I went to check out it said- you’ve paid $63 in shipping this year. I laughed because that’s still less than $119 for Amazon prime. Sometimes, I’ll pay the one month fee and order all the things I’ve been saving so that I can make my purchases all in one month. There are ways to save with Amazon that don’t include a membership

In the future some people will be against new technology, it's just too much. I work in IT but I'm starting to hate some services nowadays, especially those subscriptions where they intentionally make it hard to cancel them. Adobe is one perfect example. Or a company here in Sweden where you rent your glasses instead of just buying them, in the end you pay too much. It's just like leasing a car, but for glasses(!). I just cancelled my subscription and will pay the difference and then I will actually own the glasses.

Excellent video! I kind of like the idea of having tiers for services like Lyft and Uber: it makes sense that I pay a little more if I need to get someplace extra fast, and a little less if I'm willing to wait a few extra minutes or share my ride with another passenger. At least perception-wise, it seems like I'm getting a better deal, or at least have the option. I think as long as there's some regulation, some of these services do provide something of value: a restaurant no longer needs to hire their own delivery people so can lower their fixed costs when business is slow and also have deliverers available when business is brisk. Naturally, there's a cost involved. I have KZbin Premium and boy, do I appreciate it when I read in the comments complaints about "ads every four minutes." Again, as long as fees don't feel exploitive (regulation helps here), they seem fair to me.
@ElAgustin
@ElAgustin 22 күн бұрын
Yeah, I have YT Premium too. I'm at my dad's place now (should be moving to the new place in next week), but he doesn't have it and it's shocking how many ads they play now. But yeah, many services do provide value, but they're making things more complex.

I used to shop at two companies frequently. Both of them stopped accepting cash. The first was Hot Box Cookies, and I was so mad about them only accepting cards that I stopped going for several months. However, I realized they were a franchise and fast-paced because the customers would come in and out. After that, I stopped being annoyed and only visited occasionally. The other business was a health store that I used to go to almost every weekend. The owner passed away and the new person took over. Within three years, the new owner moved the store twice. This store had been open for over three decades and was small but popular. The new owner decided to change it to card-only and also downsized. I heard a lot of people complaining about it. I don't understand why it was done because it is small enough and now you are cutting off different payment streams. Cash is money Cash is money Cash is money

5:30 Happy to pay KZbin to not see ads. The problem is that channel owners now insert their own ads into their videos 🤬. KZbin should ban them from doing this, they already share revenue from native KZbin ads!! No bueno el Agustino, no bueno!!
@ElAgustin
@ElAgustin 22 күн бұрын
It's a challenging things because KZbin gets the "Lion's Share," with those ads. For the average finance video that has 100k views, it might make $1k, but for non finance videos it could make less than $100 and getting those view counts is very difficult plus making them can cost hundreds of dollars and dozens of hours of time. Unfortunately to run a successful KZbin channel and produce high quality videos consistently you have to take on sponsors every now and then. If KZbin banned this, nobody would make money and the only content on KZbin would be cat videos. You can always fast forward though them though!

I don't think they will take cards as it is I'm seeing companies not want you to use cards even for gas because they get charged those fees. So they give you a few pennies discount to use cash, which seems to be more common right now and increasing. Companies I don't think want those fees anymore than we do. Technology is great when it works but like everyone we are tired of the fees. Heck I'm tired of insurance and the fine lines they write they sure your covered with what ever happens to your house and home. Ps sorry about my run on sentences 😂. We have to also realize that costs to run a business rises. They don't open a business to give a free service? Same with universities, it costs money to do research, hire the best professors, have facilities, etc. The one fee that gets me is the cleaning fee at Airbnb, (and why I stay at hotels instead) I don't want to clean when I am away from home:)

The fee thing you talked about is something real unfortunately. Here in Brazil the government added really abusive fees on digital stores like Shopee. It's really common to see a trunks, for example, costing $30 and when you reach the check-out it ends up costing over $100 because of those abusive fees. I think the best thing to do is to visit real stores in real life and buy something there because you'll pay the price it's charged.

If you go through the drive-through in the city, I live in For example McDonald’s you have to bring your own bag to the drive-through. They will just pass you your food on a tray and you need to take it off the tray and put it in your own bag or you have to pay $.25 for a brown paper bag….. is this happening anywhere else?? I live in Edmonton Alberta, Canada. Also we are plastic bag free. You cannot get all plastic bag anywhere not in grocery stores nowhere. You bring reusable bags. Or again in an emergency buy a brown paper bag for $.25 each 😏

Our city will charge you 10 cents now for a bag. It's because of the plastic bags meanwhile every product and the stores virtually plastic or wrapped in it. Went to the hardware store in the city, my mistake, bought a couple of things stood there waiting for a bag and was told we don't have bags. Okay if you don't have a plastic bag drive 5 minutes down to the Strip district and buy some paper bags for your customers like the old days. I won't be back.
