what if the farm sink is 30 and the cabinet is 30 is it doable?
@HowtoHacks2 күн бұрын
No. Just make sure you are referring to the actual dimensions listed for the sink size. As a 36 inch cabinet is 36 inches to the outside of the face.

Our attic access is similar and I intend to do something like this. Previously they just had a board suspended over the hole by some trim attached to the ceiling. Afterwards I’ll re-attach the trim and add a hinged door so that the “submarine exit” isn’t seen from the bedroom.
@BGpace2099Ай бұрын
Should be 3” minimum, the way I’m installing mine is using foam on top of the 3.5” rafters and the box is mounted to the wood, leaving the wire accessible should you need to replace the wafer or puck light. This way you have 3 1/2 inches in the airspace above. It goes from a rafter to rafter minor 2 feet on center so it would allow a lot of airspace for heat dispersion that being said I would fire rate spray in foam for secure the foam panel, and on both sides, the foam panel would come back down to the drywall for a larger airspace, and then if needed, you can always remove the blown in insulation on the top and have access to all of the wiring in the box for me I feel safer with the box being mounted and secure, and not being able to wiggle and move around.

I need to do this but on my actual house above my bedroom. I can't just let the pieces fall inward but that press board stuff is rotting away under the shingles. i also need to replace rotting fascia board and Gutters that rusted away, AND the corner piece where weather and squirrels have damaged it. I guess I need to invest in a pneumatic nailer?

I need to create an attic access. The one I have currently is small and stuck in a small closet in the back bedroom next to a permently installed shelf. A hole lot of Ladder shimmying going on to get into the tiny hole. I want to put it in a more accessible place, like the Hallway, where would be no difficulty placing a full sized ladder. YOur access looks like it is made like a chute. I"ve not seen that before. Other videos showing how to make a new access panel, they just cut out the dry wall and put overlapping trim around the hole and replace the drywall slab. Seeing your access, I now believe I should probably put ply wood around the edges to make it a chute instead of just a hole in the ceiling. Well, thanks. I just created more work for myself and probably saved myself a headache down the line. Got any tips for replacing facia what is weather and squirrel eaten?

Can you link everything you used, including the paint sprayer? I had our drywall painted twice now and each time 3/4 of the way through it was fine then when it dried fully it left chinks of paint all over the finish and streaks and the mud is flashing through. Super irritating and the texture looks terrible. I want the perfectly smooth look!

It looks very profesional 😮 One question though, is the vent just bolted to the J-channel? 🤔 I'm working on a vent just like it, but I was thinking of bolting it to the wall and install the J-channel over the vent.
@HowtoHacks3 ай бұрын
I used stainless steel furnace screws to secure to the j channel and clear silicone to keep water out and to secure even further when the silicon dries. The silicone caulking holds a lot, so I personally don’t think it’s necessary to screw to the wall. I you screw to the wall the a screws will have to go through the siding behind the j channel so you will have to put the siding on first.

Why not just raise the door, wrap the new cables around the rollers and connect? You don’t have to mess with the springs at all
@HowtoHacks3 ай бұрын
The springs are pulling on the shaft that the cables are connected to so the cables are under constant tension. Also rolling up the door will cause the cables to wrap around the pulleys, making it even harder to change.

How long does the repair last?
@HowtoHacks4 ай бұрын
Lasts a long time if done correctly. The hydraulic cement is just as strong as regular concrete. The bond between the hydraulic cement and original wall is what’s important. If it doesn’t leak during the first time the ground is really saturated with water then it should be good.

A good instructional video with the exception of a couple of things. First, and foremost, was having your body and face in direct alignment with the winding rods. People performing this DIY task need to keep off to the right or left (depending on right or left handed) to prevent a possible slip of that rod into their face, which could be catastrophic. Especially when doing this repair alone with no one around. The next would be having an additional lighting source for those areas where it's really much too dark to see what's really going on, or what's getting attached to what. All in all, a fairly decent fix-it-video for those that require assistance getting their broken/worn garage door torsion system cables changed out.

Sillseal needs caulk and caulk dries out cracks , what do you do set scaffold up 10 years later just to address caulk ? The flues have radius corners and they don’t get that warm at last flue ,. Apply an elastomeric coating on the concrete wash and go up the flue 2” and any expansion hairline will be sealed . Than again that will need a re coat it’s probably best to use a copper or stainless steel cover over the top of chimney

All I have is 3" access from the back of the sink to the wall. No way to install hardware and plumbing. I had a guy install the vanity and sink, but the hardware wasn't on site yet. I was hoping there may be a trick I can use to avoid removing the sink, but I guess not. I'll just have to remove all the silicone and slide out the sink. I do like the idea of replacing the cross board with something smaller for better access 9:30. Thanks for the video on the detail I was looking for. Also I wanted to add that my sink has 4 adjustment screws below on cross boards, to raise the sink to a perfect height. The front of the vanity is open (no doors), so the height/depth of the sink itself could vary and still be adjusted to suit.

Is there a reason you did not add a 4x4 under the floor (between the bottom and the floor) to assist with the weight? I like how you changed your 'stops'. My plumbing is through the floor so I will have additional issues but I loved the upside down approach. Brilliant!
@HowtoHacks4 ай бұрын
Thanks. You can add additional framing under the cabinet if you want but in my case it wasn’t necessary. The plywood bottom of my cabinet is slotted into the side of cabinet so it’s plenty strong.

Do you have any videos on how to caulk a farmhouse sink. Mine needs to be redone.
@HowtoHacks4 ай бұрын
I don’t. You just want to caulk where the sink meets the countertop. Pick a tub and tile caulk that can be cleaned with water. Remove any old caulk if it’s loose, there too much, or it looks bad. Use a utility knife to cut the caulk loose and take your time. Be sure not to press hard when cutting. The apply a bead of the new caulk, use your finger to smooth and the caulk, and a damp rag to clean up the excess.
