I've been learning to draft sewing patterns over the past few years. For the sleeve, I began using the diagonal line and points at various amounts to create the curves and then discovered the Quarter-fold method which I find easier to follow. However, your tutorial was so interesting -- haven't seen a sleeve made from the armscye method before and really like the result! Thank you for explaining this so clearly and think this will be a great one to use when drafting for a 2 piece sleeve.

Absolutely the easiest bodice sloper drafting method. I did it straight onto some fabric (just used a bit of tracing paper for moving the front armhole dart) and sewed it up quickly, great fit. I didn't quite follow the front armhole needs to be smaller rule and ended up with 1/4" extra fabric...so follow that rule haha. I've tried other drafting methods and they're so convoluted! they require lots of tweaking and usually too tight. This will be so easy to adapt for patterns.

Been watching a lot of videos on drafting the basic bodice yet i fully never got to understand it. I find your video very well detailed and easy to understand. Thank you so much for such detailed explanation. I didn’t even get to learn this much from my fashion school like i did now after watching your videos.😊

Chris, I am a pear-shape and my “widest” point is actually the top of my thigh, not my hip. Around my rear/hip widest point is 3-4” above my thigh point (which is visually widest when viewed from the front.) How can I account for this in my sloper?

I'm going to give this tutorial a try! For the checklist girlies like myself, here is the written list of measurements he has you take: -Back high point shoulder to waist -Center back neck to waist -Front high point shoulder to waist (over bust) -Center front neck to waist -Bust apex from waist -Between bust apex points -Bust circumference (plus 1.5” ease) -Waist circumference (plus .5” ease) -Across shoulders (from the back) -Shoulder seam length (side of neck to shoulder seam) -Shoulder slope (parallel surface out from neck, measure up from shoulder seam)

Wonderful video. I am full figured and I have done a taped bodice and got stuck when cutting darts. I had way more curves than the young woman they demonstrated on. So now I am going to do this. I am hoping i find, sleeve, full bodice, skirt and pants sloper videos on your site. Thank you so very much.

Just a heads up for others watching !! When drafting the shoulder length , move out /add .25 inches ..(your back shoulders are a little wider ) .. then proceed to the shoulder slope . He mentions subtracting .25 from the shoulder during the second part (front bodice drafting ) .. probably not a huge deal , but I'm a perfectionist 😅
@onlybusinessmatters
@onlybusinessmatters 5 ай бұрын
so you add .25 inches to the shoulder width (e.g. width is 15 so it would be 15.25.)

Oh dear, I must be an idiot. First, I could not figure out top from bottom as it did not match part 1 video, so I did it in reverse, and had the hardest time following. After hours, I've given up. I've got to find an idot proof video to help this old lady make her first bodice.

I just want to thank you about sharing your knowledge with us for free. I have recently got a dress form and I wanted to make a bodice sloper I tried my usual method but I didn't work well for the dress form! I tried your method and it worked perfectly the only fitting issue I had was that the shoulder line was sits ro the back. Thank you so much!
