This is by far the best and the most simplified pattern drafting tutorial I have watched. And I i have watched plenty! Also, I've noticed that people write the same praise under any drafting video but God this one is amazing No unnecessary measurements,no mind boggling formulas that don't apply to all.

I must say thank you sir, your video is professionally done with easy to follow and understanding. I almost gave up hope as a beginner wanting to make my own clothes. I will definitely make a mock up and post my results. Once again thank you after I have brought books recommendations patterns and a bunch of tools based on other videos , only to be left stuck and confused without a single bodice block😢, I know the video I’m watching is old however I must say it’s still doing exactly what you put it up to do thank you so much. I truly hope you get this message sir.

You are awesome Chris Sartorial!!! I hope you still keep up with these comments. Thank you for all your videos. I am a curvaceous, 67-year-old, and just now trying to learn how to make better fitting clothes for me. You take a one step at a time approach, and you don't go too fast to my older brain. I plan on watching all your videos. Thank you for being you.

I’ve watched what feels like dozens of videos and read the instructions in the most recommended texts for how to do this and honestly, it seemed like so many arbitrary dots and lines with NO explanation of what the heck is going on or why it’s being done. You not only managed to simplify the process to its most pertinent points but explained WHY. This was the first time I could see the 3D body being plotted out into a 2D representation in a coherent way. Thank you so much. With this, I know I will be able to confidently address any issues that arise with fit.

Although pattern making takes careful calculation, most people turn it into rocket science without any explanation at all. Most of them are just following Helen J Armstrong or Winifred Aldrich. So it's really a herd situation

Can someone help me understand: we added ease to the waist and hip measurements then created the pattern from the total of the half hip & waist. Before I cut my sample, do I need to add the ease alongside my seam allowance addition too?
@VanessaZoey4 ай бұрын
Hi! the ease, has to do with the fit only. You do need to add seam allowance!

I've been learning to draft sewing patterns over the past few years. For the sleeve, I began using the diagonal line and points at various amounts to create the curves and then discovered the Quarter-fold method which I find easier to follow. However, your tutorial was so interesting -- haven't seen a sleeve made from the armscye method before and really like the result! Thank you for explaining this so clearly and think this will be a great one to use when drafting for a 2 piece sleeve.

Absolutely the easiest bodice sloper drafting method. I did it straight onto some fabric (just used a bit of tracing paper for moving the front armhole dart) and sewed it up quickly, great fit. I didn't quite follow the front armhole needs to be smaller rule and ended up with 1/4" extra fabric...so follow that rule haha. I've tried other drafting methods and they're so convoluted! they require lots of tweaking and usually too tight. This will be so easy to adapt for patterns.

Thank you so much for such detailed explanation. I didn’t even get to learn this much from my fashion school like i did now after watching your videos.😊

Chris, I am a pear-shape and my “widest” point is actually the top of my thigh, not my hip. Around my rear/hip widest point is 3-4” above my thigh point (which is visually widest when viewed from the front.) How can I account for this in my sloper?
@IndianPaintbrush19925 ай бұрын
I'm going to give this tutorial a try! For the checklist girlies like myself, here is the written list of measurements he has you take: -Back high point shoulder to waist -Center back neck to waist -Front high point shoulder to waist (over bust) -Center front neck to waist -Bust apex from waist -Between bust apex points -Bust circumference (plus 1.5” ease) -Waist circumference (plus .5” ease) -Across shoulders (from the back) -Shoulder seam length (side of neck to shoulder seam) -Shoulder slope (parallel surface out from neck, measure up from shoulder seam)

Wonderful video. I am full figured and I have done a taped bodice and got stuck when cutting darts. I had way more curves than the young woman they demonstrated on. So now I am going to do this. I am hoping i find, sleeve, full bodice, skirt and pants sloper videos on your site. Thank you so very much.
