I don't consider the 911 the bench mark for Porsche given most of the 3L turbo charged Carreras are fairly mundane. The Cayman/Boxster GTS hit the nail on the head for road going sports cars both in 981 3.4L NA guise and 718 4.0L NA guise. The 3.4 sounds significantly better and is better damped for B roads. Currently the pick of the Porsche crop is the 718 Spyder RS.

I currently have a 5 year old 320d which is due for change. I’m torn between an LCI 320d in stock or an LCI2 330e which I can configure. I’m thinking of specifying the Adaptive Suspension on the 330e and I’m interested in hearing a bit more about your experience in comfort mode. Is there a significant difference when you select Comfort? Does it iron out bumps and holes well? You said some complimentary things but I’d love to hear a bit more of your experience. Cheers.
@CarMadDad13 күн бұрын
Thanks for reaching out chat I would wholeheartedly recommend the adaptive suspension. It’s the first box you should take and worth every penny comfort mode irons out a lot of the road and really does provide a level of ride quality that you should have in the car when you turn everything into sport, the car certainly stiffen up and becomes far more agile in the corners. Hope that helps.

Love your analogy of microwave oven and BBQ 😂. My son has a 981 S and I have 718 BGTS 4.0. The 981 has so much character compared to the 718. The PSE exhaust sounds incredible. If it wasn’t for the fiddly roof I would love a 981 Spyder. Another good video. Thanks.

can the V8 be somewhat quiet if its in normal mode with stock exhaust or sport exhaust turned off?..i love the quietness of that hybrid but V8 would be nice too,,just curious if you can drive in a quiet cabin environment with that V8 in normal mode
@CarMadDad13 күн бұрын
The V8 is capable of purring along with the valves closed however even then it’s obviously not going to match the low levels of sound if you’re driving in electric in the hybrid

There is a waiting list for new Porsches even a second hand car is expensive. Unless you are making 300k a year or have a successful business then go out and buy one if you can’t afford it and something needs replacing it will cost a preety penny. You need to us premium gas you can’t us regular fuel you are messing up the engine if you can’t afford the gas you can’t really afford the car .

would you pick a panamera turbo over a taycan turbo?
@CarMadDad13 күн бұрын
This is obviously all down to preference and if you’re actually going to buy the car in my opinion, I think if it was a business Lee steel I probably go for the taken on the premise that I wouldn’t really be worrying about the depreciation and I could just have them monthly payments and give the car back in some time and I do believe the take and is a great all rounder. However, if it was my personal money, I’d have the Panamera.

For a road car they are pretty good on track - had an E46 M3 when new and it would only last a few laps before the stock brakes gave up The reason I sold mine was that the road noise was just too much for a daily - would like to buy a 911.1 convertible as a high days and holidays car as love the normally aspirated engine noise

Your ownership experience is invaluable as I hope to join the Porsche family next year. I have always been a manual guy and never driven a PDK so which would you prefer? Secondly the 4 wheel drive verses 2 wheel drive? Some say the 4 wheel drive numbs steering feel but I like the thought of the security of 4 wheel drive, what are your thoughts? Only recently found you and now I am a subscriber.

Hi Ray I’ve done another video on the car well worth a watch to help with some of this. I’d suggest driving both manual and pdk to get YOUR preferred set up… same for 2 vs 4 wheel drive - all about preference- this is just where I landed.

I like the idea of a Porsche EV - however the biggest single issue for me is battery life - how can you buy a car that will only last 8-10 years and will then need a new battery costing £45k? New EV’s are a 20-30% premium over ice vehicles and then there is the savage depreciation. I would go so far s to say that most EV’s are company leases where the companies right off cost against tax. I asked my Porsche dealer about battery life and they said it’s guaranteed for 8 years. After that I asked and they said we don’t know we haven’t had one that long.

I have a Boxster GTS 4 litre 25 years after owning2 911 (997.2 S carb for 4 years and 991.2 GTS coupe 18 months). I prefer NA engine for its sound and that you have to work at it. The turbo charged 991.2 GTS is faster but suffers from turbo lag in normal drive mode and the engine sounded boring in comparison. IMO the Boxster 25 years is more exciting especially with the roof down and the smaller footprint is better for British roads. I took it to Europe with our Porsche club and the car easily keep up with some well driven 911s. It handled the Stelivio pass and others with ease. A sublime car for the twistiest of mountain passes. I love it.
