Rumor is that the gate won’t open till 7 AM. What also sucks about the situation is that you have to be banded on your way out, so somebody needs to be at the gate when you leave.

It's BS and just another reason to find a way to kill the sport of fishing in California. What's the whole point of red tagging a boat and putting it into the system if you can't use it from lake to lake? In that case wouldn't they just treat it like any other inspection like they do with the quaga mussels already?

Thanks Steve. I think it's good that they are taking a very active stance on all these issues with the muscles. However Im starting to wonder if this just some kind of scheme due to the fact everything is in a negative Deficit world wide as far as funding. Could it be California has run out of money for the local parks?. I wouldn't put it pass them. Either way thanks for the updates Steve!.

I think it's more that the State is trying to protect our water and they are airing on the side of caution. Agriculture may be the ones that really get hurt from this problem. I like to eat and I don't like high food prices so I am going to sit tight and see what happens in the next month or so.
@tabstiles68905 сағат бұрын
Golden mussels are in the delta! All farm canals are below the lakes, the delta is connected to all the rivers up to the base of the dams. Farm pipes are screwed it's just a matter of time! The lakes need a uniformed band system that is simple! They need to shut down and drain the California aqua duct and Delta Mendota canal, but that's not going to happen water is money! You don't hear any thing about that! So this is California yelling the sky is falling! And we will pay for it.. at the ramp... inspections... stickers. The municipal districts will profit from us! We paid (the taxpayer) for the dam originally with a stipulation they would remain as recreational areas.

@indeeponthedeltawithstevec5997 I think the adjustments that the tournament directors are gonna have to make are pretty obvious. They don't have a choice but to cut out all tournaments on the bodies of water that have these ridiculous restrictions. Tournament anglers are constantly bouncing around from one body of water to another pre fishing for upcoming tournaments.

@brucebroadwater81985 сағат бұрын
Thanks for the info Steve. Looks like we will all need to commit to fishing just one fishery and going to a different location requires removal of the band, so 30 day quarantine starts over. Am I hearing this correctly?
@indeeponthedeltawithstevec59975 сағат бұрын
As of this minute, it's just a NM thing. I think once all the lakes have the same banding system you can go from lake to lake. Just remember to get off the lake while the folks at the ramp who do the rebanding can reband your boat. What will happen on the Delta-who knows.
@windupdevl5 сағат бұрын
Imagine burning a tank of gas and an afternoon to get your boat inspected and banded, only to then have to wait 30 days to be able to use it and then be limited to what hours of the day you CAN use it..... batshit crazy thinking this isn't going to kill the sport fishing industry in central CA.... and the mussels are going to find their way to these lakes eventually anyway, if they haven't already
@indeeponthedeltawithstevec59975 сағат бұрын
I think this practice will be changed as soon as all agencies are able to come togather and have the same banding. We will see. I sure hope this video saves one angler from heading up and getting turned away-that would piss me off.

Why would you want to speed up the process? It’s partly our duty to do our due diligence and keep these GM’s out of our fisheries.
@indeeponthedeltawithstevec5997Сағат бұрын
@@db9818 I am not in favor of speeding up the process, I am for reveviewing the science, and making informed decisions on whats best for the river -laks and wild life. I also don't want anglers to drive up to any lake and get turned away at the ramp.
@db98185 минут бұрын
@@indeeponthedeltawithstevec5997the problem is we have no science on how it’ll interact with our environment as it’s never been in North America. We do know their environmental requirements and we are fairly well suited for them to thrive. I’d say we have proof of that as they’re already established in the Delta where Q/Z mussels have been in CA for 15+yrs and none in our Northern lakes. Allowing just one boat with larvae can destroy a lake, especially some of our more sensitive environments like Clear Lake.

In my state you can only have three baits with hooks in them. I saw one guy who said you could just put weights on the bottom two wires of a 5 wire a-rig so that you can use it as a sort of bottom bouncer for bass. I know to avoid cover, but what about the bottom? Have you heard of this? Tried it? Think it would work?
@indeeponthedeltawithstevec599723 сағат бұрын
That sounds like a good idea. I think it depends on the bottom. Soft bottom with sparce veg. may be ok. I do not like rocks and a-rigs but if it catches fish I'm in.

I noticed that on your hooked baits you added a little chartreuse to the tails. That’s a good call. The hooked baits with chartreuse will stand out a little more. In my minimal a-rig experience the bait that looks slightly different than the rest is the one that gets bit.
@nathancooper4954Күн бұрын
Yup I love dipping my tails in spike it chartreuse, especially when the water looks like it does now. I have found that stripers always love it. I have done really well dipping the tails in black for largemouth. The black seems to work well on finicky pressured fish. Works well on craw tips too.
@ericchristiansen274Күн бұрын
Steve you can go threw all that or you can buy a arig for 2 to 3 $ on temu. It takes 10 to 12 days to arrive but you can't make them that cheap. They work great BTW..
