Imagine burning a tank of gas and an afternoon to get your boat inspected and banded, only to then have to wait 30 days to be able to use it and then be limited to what hours of the day you CAN use it..... batshit crazy thinking this isn't going to kill the sport fishing industry in central CA.... and the mussels are going to find their way to these lakes eventually anyway, if they haven't already
@indeeponthedeltawithstevec599722 сағат бұрын
I think this practice will be changed as soon as all agencies are able to come togather and have the same banding. We will see. I sure hope this video saves one angler from heading up and getting turned away-that would piss me off.

Why would you want to speed up the process? It’s partly our duty to do our due diligence and keep these GM’s out of our fisheries.
@indeeponthedeltawithstevec599718 сағат бұрын
@@db9818 I am not in favor of speeding up the process, I am for reveviewing the science, and making informed decisions on whats best for the river -laks and wild life. I also don't want anglers to drive up to any lake and get turned away at the ramp.
@db981816 сағат бұрын
@@indeeponthedeltawithstevec5997the problem is we have no science on how it’ll interact with our environment as it’s never been in North America. We do know their environmental requirements and we are fairly well suited for them to thrive. I’d say we have proof of that as they’re already established in the Delta where Q/Z mussels have been in CA for 15+yrs and none in our Northern lakes. Allowing just one boat with larvae can destroy a lake, especially some of our more sensitive environments like Clear Lake.

Golden mussels are in the delta! All farm canals are below the lakes, the delta is connected to all the rivers up to the base of the dams. Farm pipes are screwed it's just a matter of time! The lakes need a uniformed band system that is simple! They need to shut down and drain the California aqua duct and Delta Mendota canal, but that's not going to happen water is money! You don't hear any thing about that! So this is California yelling the sky is falling! And we will pay for it.. at the ramp... inspections... stickers. The municipal districts will profit from us! We paid (the taxpayer) for the dam originally with a stipulation they would remain as recreational areas.

@indeeponthedeltawithstevec5997 I think the adjustments that the tournament directors are gonna have to make are pretty obvious. Tournament anglers are constantly bouncing around from one body of water to another pre fishing for upcoming tournaments.

As of this minute, it's just a NM thing. I think once all the lakes have the same banding system you can go from lake to lake. Just remember to get off the lake while the folks at the ramp who do the rebanding can reband your boat. What will happen on the Delta-who knows.
