I’m curious to know how they will stop further contamination from Asian boats entering the port of Stockton. Hold them offshore until they clear inspection.

Imagine burning a tank of gas and an afternoon to get your boat inspected and banded, only to then have to wait 30 days to be able to use it and then be limited to what hours of the day you CAN use it..... batshit crazy thinking this isn't going to kill the sport fishing industry in central CA.... and the mussels are going to find their way to these lakes eventually anyway, if they haven't already
@indeeponthedeltawithstevec5997Ай бұрын
I think this practice will be changed as soon as all agencies are able to come togather and have the same banding. We will see. I sure hope this video saves one angler from heading up and getting turned away-that would piss me off.

Why would you want to speed up the process? It’s partly our duty to do our due diligence and keep these GM’s out of our fisheries.
@indeeponthedeltawithstevec5997Ай бұрын
@@db9818 I am not in favor of speeding up the process, I am for reveviewing the science, and making informed decisions on whats best for the river -laks and wild life. I also don't want anglers to drive up to any lake and get turned away at the ramp.
@db9818Ай бұрын
@@indeeponthedeltawithstevec5997the problem is we have no science on how it’ll interact with our environment as it’s never been in North America. We do know their environmental requirements and we are fairly well suited for them to thrive. I’d say we have proof of that as they’re already established in the Delta where Q/Z mussels have been in CA for 15+yrs and none in our Northern lakes. Allowing just one boat with larvae can destroy a lake, especially some of our more sensitive environments like Clear Lake.

Golden mussels are in the delta! All farm canals are below the lakes, the delta is connected to all the rivers up to the base of the dams. Farm pipes are screwed it's just a matter of time! The lakes need a uniformed band system that is simple! They need to shut down and drain the California aqua duct and Delta Mendota canal, but that's not going to happen water is money! You don't hear any thing about that! So this is California yelling the sky is falling! And we will pay for it.. at the ramp... inspections... stickers. The municipal districts will profit from us! We paid (the taxpayer) for the dam originally with a stipulation they would remain as recreational areas.

@indeeponthedeltawithstevec5997Ай бұрын
As of this minute, it's just a NM thing. I think once all the lakes have the same banding system you can go from lake to lake. Just remember to get off the lake while the folks at the ramp who do the rebanding can reband your boat. What will happen on the Delta-who knows.

Well welcome to our fishing issues in S.Cal. have to have bands at Castaic and pyramid, but can't use those bands at riverside lakes(perris,sliverwood, DVL) nor puddingstone, and can't use their tags other places as well. Santa Margarita has a 30 day hold if you've been on a body of water that hasn't tested. Good luck on getting them under one band😂 it's California, but hey we now have golden mussels in the "golden state. What's amazing is Arizona has embraced the muscles in the Colorado River as it has made those fisheries much better by coating cages with growth and adding to the natural structure appeal to them.
@indeeponthedeltawithstevec5997Ай бұрын
I did not realize you had a banding system in S. Cal. How long has it been in place and how do you think it's been working?
@corbinwadlow2044Ай бұрын
It’s terrible down south, just as this gentleman has pointed out. They’re unable to fish any lake they’d like to freely. Very little night fishing opportunity as you have to have your band replaced upon leaving the lake or undergo a quarantine or decontamination. I heard some areas are closed and locked at “closing time”. So to me it sounds like “our, the taxpayers” lakes are ran like state offices. The outdoors should be available at anytime if it’s public property & funded by taxpayers. People work all week & need their time to get away from the stressors of everyday life. This is just another CA control issue that has options available. Lake Sonoma has trained dogs that can detect mussels. Sure it comes with a cost, but the decontamination equipment, personnel all will cost more & take a lot of time. I think it’s Lake Michigan that has thrived with the mussels, they have actually made the lake better. They implemented screens on their pipes & have divers that go down as part of their maintenance to clean them. CA always PANICS & overreacts! So-Cal wants all the water. Turn all boaters off to the delta so they stay away in fear they won’t be allowed on the other bodies of water & a lot of people will lose interest. That way they will have less opposition for those “TUNNELS”! Anyone that thinks all these “tidal restoration” projects are for the better health of the delta are delusional. Breach the levees & there’s more holding capacity in the delta, the smelt & salmon are the feel good part of it. The real agenda is to get that water down south.

If you fish to Delta, you should have to be quarantine or washed. You’re punishing people that don’t go to the Delta. It simple if you go to the delta you have to register and sticker your boat.
