That sounds stupid! You can get a child support hearing in any state you want. But, only can get custody or visitation rights from the state where the kid lives! Both should only be able to be done where the child was born. Or at least where both parents were last living together.

If the court is unable to go back, to retroactively correct the calculations. Then how do they ever manage to get back child support?

That retro child support be a highway robbery and the explanation or math never makes any sense. In most cases they base retro off of the person's current job pay and NEVER his past jobs pay which would be more accurate since it's "Retro/back" and not present or future pay. Both parties didn't do what's necessary for the child to receive money from the parent. If it's a mother in court admitting that she communicated with the childs father WHILE receiving government assistant, them type of questions should be asked on why didn't she put him on child support immediately. Especially if the fathers is always grilled & penalized for not doing such on his own. Most cases it's always admitted that the mother got assistance from the gov while taking money under the table from the father and all she has to do is raise her hand and her entire part in the matter dissappears while the person that wasn't in control on that matter gets penalized.

How the eff does he owe her money when she didn't have the kid, and why was her dad still getting the money AFTER he gave the kid back? They're screwing that father over royally! I’m probably so messed up for thinking this way but I would start cutting off financially if I truly tried my best but bc of the mother constantly poisoning my child, now my child refuses to be apart of my life. I would find a way by either visits, letters, texts whatever to express my love for the child and my hope that they would allow a bond to form but I’m gonna assume she lives a very very comfortable life bc of his job which took him out of state.
