Saw this layout 'in the flesh' on 21/7/24; buildings and scenery are very impressive (and the baseboard joint wasn't as bad as shown in this vid!).

Would it be possible to operate this crossing with a simple switch and a 9V battery?

Your locos need chuff sync. There should be only four exhaust beats per wheel revolution and you have twice that.

There is a difference between a hobby and a work piece. With a hobby you do it because it brings you happiness. A workpiece can be flawed just think back to British Leyland and the cars they sold that were rubbish. The owners did not enjoy them. A hobby is to be enjoyed mainly by yourself as it is done on your budget and within your capabilities.

Nice layout. My pendantry kicks in, technically speaking those wagons aren't China Clay Hoods, mars an otherwise perfect layout ✌️💜

Shouldn't they also have numbers and some other kinds of data stenciled on them?

Beautiful work! Those little touches like the woman scrubbing her doorstep and the boy and man at the gate watching the train pass by really make the scene come alive.

Hey quick question. Because I have a two track layout I was wondering if I were to buy these how easy would it be to have two lights, two track on sensors and if possible can you unplug the speaker and not break the connection?

Another very cheap way is to use a childs watercolour paint set but add a bit of liquid soap to the water. It dries matt and is quite a robust finish.

Brilliant scenery! Really good layout. Shame about the baseboard joint being out of kilter.

You and I are going to be buddies. I'm trying the folding box method using a 6" x 24" sheet 1/16"thick. The box side + front can't be more than the sum of 12. I'm going with 8" and 4". The sequential cuts across the grain would be 8...4...8...4". On the 4" sides mark the roof angles.

Lovely work✌️👍😊 I've dabbled with tester pots, I've parred down some of the "fancy" weathering products, gradually going back to basics - with the odd exception - on rolling stock I'm back to three basic colours. Do you ever let down and airbrush household paints? 👍🤔✌️😊
