Great insight and reflections. I happen to be old enough to have watched Jordan in real time. Footage doesn’t do him any justice. I can appreciate Lebron's greatness but Jordan is the best basketball player I've ever seen. The most complete player I've ever seen. He's unique among all the greats past and present. And I actively rooted against him as he ripped out the hearts of everyone in his path. I loved Shaq, Penny, Grant Hill and Kobe. The only time I rooted for him was when the Bulls were going against the Lakers in 91 and the Blazers in 92. There will be someone that surpasses him one day. Bron ain't that guy. And regarding the games increased complexity; that has 100% to do with rules. A modern NBA game would take 6 hours to play if a ref from the 90's was calling it. With all the travelling, carrying, double dribbling, illegal screens. Stats aren't even counted the same. Removing hand checking alone makes modern players seem like super heroes. So we're left with hypotheticals.

The only people that defend this game till this day are: a) nostalfags that miss being in elementary/middle school and this 2k takes them back to those years, or simply 17 was their first 2k. b) Park enjoyers who loved to zigzag and blow by on this game, plus just being nostalgic about the parks (at the time everyone complained that they were the same as 2k16 btw). And adding to what Dom said, 2k17 myTeam was AWFULLY MID, the only salvageable things were the shot meter and the soundtrack. Its not the worst 2k, but for sure is one of the worst and by far the most overrated

I didn't, this game was just overrated and just not as good as ESPN NBA 2K5, the gameplay had issues no one seemed to care about, making the game too easy, 2K5 had a better presentation, better graphics, better gameplay and a better soundtrack plus it had the ESPN in it, 2K5 should have had the love this game received, this is when NBA Live started to go on a downward trend

01 76ers are still pretty nice in current 2K. They’re really good defensively and offensively it’s a bit tough still but the game has changed a lot now where you can slot Mickie in the SF spot and the starting SF to PF. So now you have a bit more space to work with. Imo it actually benefits them even more. Tyrone hill can be a good enough C for todays game but because he’s a traditional PF, he can also help dominate the boards with the backup C if you want to crash the offensive glass and that’s actually one of my strategies with some of the older teams.
