The RAC always attracted the best crews and cars, with probably Röhrl and Geistdörfer being the only exception, due to the former not liking blind rallies. Speaking of which... the crews did get standardized road books, didn't they? Something like a map, which the co-drivers had to read and relay on the fly? Now, how often do you see a former world champion stall their Group B monster, let alone two? Michèle and the S1 are a pretty sexy combo... 😍 Lots of excellent and unusual footage. Awesome video. For some reason I never had much interest in her as a driver at the time. But I watched a documentary about her life and it made me realise what a true talent she was. Also an amazing and highly intelligent woman.

Around the 12,5 minute mark.. 12:30 You really get the sense why people referred to this as F1 on gravel and mud. You hear how powerful and fast those engines are. Beautiful remastered footage, by whomever, I must say. Kudos

@Marvdogger2 Oh well then I'll direct it where deserved. It takes times to convert vhs or betamax videos to digital, and to then enhance the footage. I do know Ai can get you somewhere, but it is still only an aid for now. So well done, well done indeed. Will stayed tuned for more

@ I’ve tried AI tools when editing but it looks really artificial to me and stands out a mile so I haven’t used it. I prefer to clean the footage up and do colour correction manually. This footage was all shot on professional U Matic tape and I’ve gone back to the original rushes which there are hours of and edited it from there. I’m sure AI will continue to improve.

@@Marvdogger2 I didn't want to say it, but I also could tell. Becomes pixilated and kinda stop-motion like. But yeah the nerds are never sleeping, so it probably will improve massively. Since it is stuff like that, the nerds already know is time consuming. I can absolutely recommend car meets, where people sell all sorts of strange items. I've seen old Havoc videos and dvds, and also old Le Mans footage. And they sell dirt cheap

@@AdriLeverkuhn Only in 82 did Lancia bring its 037 to the U.K. when the rest of the field was in Group 4 cars. I thought of focus on the years when the Group B entry’s were at there strongest.

Depends which ones, in 1981 Ari Vatanen claimed he'd quit rallying altogether if he got beaten by a woman (i.e. Michelle)... just before being beaten by her, he promptly went back on his word and (iirc) at the very least apologized afterwards The next year Rohrl would go on stating (in regards to her) that the Audi was so much better than the competition that you could put a monkey at the wheel and it'd win
