Discotek Media is a very underrated Anime company in the West.

I know I’m 3 years late so not sure if you’ll see this, but I just found your channel recently and have been watching through your backlog of videos. They’re great man! Your style of video is genuinely my favorite on KZbin! The haul videos in particular give me a real cozy vibe that I’ve been desperately needing lately. Listening to you passionately talk and get excited about anime is always entertaining and never boring! Anyways, I’m not usually one to comment much but after hearing what you said at the end I just had to let you know that your videos are appreciated and I easily made it through this one all in one go! Would love to see you cover more discotek panels in the future if it’s still something you have time for! ^^

B, I'll screw up building it and C I'll break it so at least in your hands it's safe! lol The light can be used for anything, I am annoyed as I forgot to put in the battery USB pack I have for it, if you want to run it via batteries, I'll add that in next year! XD The Figuarts is a double so no worries there, as I had that issue with Dekai going bankrupt and in the end I got mine from AmiAmi but forgot to cancel my order for Gamersheek! XD The Canvas Board I completely forgot I ordered! So when it arrived I was like "Oh yeah! I got this for Blaize too!" lol It's really awesome and the moemnt I saw it I was like this Blaize's kind of artwork! Finally the book, that cover is gorgeous! I was blown away with it and I wish I'd got one for myself! lol I knew you'd want that though so the moment I found out about it, I ordered which if you remember I told you just after Christmas I've already ordered your Birthday present! XD Anyway once again mate I'm glad you enjoyed your goodies, NO we will not ban me from AmiAmi and will this happen again? Maybe... possibly... who knows...? Money is on yes...... XD

Aim for the Ace is always a good time, and man is it loved, I had no idea how much it influenced until these releases came out. I still need to pick up Another Match, as I'm so curious about it having seen nothing of it ^^; I have a feeling that other OVA series you were speaking about will end up in a discotek day, they seem to try and pick up everything if they can (Which I appreciate) I have to do a few more videos still and I also picked up City Hunter stuff! haven't put any of it in yet to check it all, but man I do love the style~ (I looked up some of the manga and yeah, so nice~) Man, I have to pick up Goku Midnight Eye, just for fun, but also it used to be advertised like CRAZY in old anime magazines over here. I saw the ads for it in pretty much every old issue in the Animerica magazine (or at least it felt like it AHAHA). I haven't seen it in forever, it'll be a trip to watch again. I'm glad we have all of project A-ko, but hearing they have a 90s OVA I'm super curious, and kinda fascinated that I haven't seen it in all of my bin diving. Might be a new thing for me to look for as well LOL Loved this, and yay! You completed your goal, and we all benefitted from watching it : D So thank you for yet another fantastic haul!

The cover choices might be a mandate they have to follow. I recall the Sonic X had a different game inspired cover but was rejected to a bland cover with blue squares.

Tbf Gonzo just kinda bled over time, the people who left to form DavidPro i think was their biggest blow, but there was like 3 or 4 studios that were formed from Gonzo. I think some of the people from their last shows moved to studio Kai, so i dont know if they have manpower given they havent done anything for 4 years.

I love a good sports anime/manga so I might have to check out Hinomaru Samo someday. Great haul as always Blaize 👍

I've been meaning to watch Berserk for a long time, I'll have to pick up the Discotek bluray. I was holding out for a complete series of Hinomaru Sumo, but I guess that's never happening. lol

I think nudity in Crying Freeman is just a staple of Kazuo Koike's manga. He also made Kizuoibito which has an OVA & I think the tone is just as ridiculous. He also did Mad Bull 34 along with some big hits like Lady Snowblood & Lone Wolf & Cub.

Now onto the 1990's.... :P I will say I agree with you on the City Hunter artwork, it's so strange that Discotek do that, I remember our conversation on the original Box Set Part 1 and how it was such a weird choice to have Ryo surrounded by women with Kaori on the side. So random! I am looking forward to getting back to City Hunter (as you know I've had the itch! lol) so as soon as my Blu-Rays arrive I will jump back in! lol Goku Midnight Eye sounds cool, will add that one to my list! What you mentioned about Project A-KO has made me wonder whether it's actually worth keeping the DVD'S? I was going to sell them in order to get the Blu-Rays however if you say Uncivil War has no Blu-Ray then I may as well just keep them as I believe it is all of it. Great haul Blaize! I like tennis so I might buy Aim for Ace movie first. I always wanted to check out the City Hunter anime or even the manga. Even though the manga is very rare and out of print. Sadly my only city hunter experience was that Jackie Chan film lol. I'll try to pick up the complete First Series soon hopefully.

Sounds like I need to get my hands on Gunbuster, a masterpiece, a must have for the collection, greatest ending you've seen??? Yeah that's gone up on my priority list! I did enjoy Demon City Shinjuku but I do remember feeling quite overwhelmed with it. I do need to replace my old DVD'S of Project A-KO as I remember watching them back in the day but not being overly struck on them, probably because at the time I was an Anime Noob! Now I am a fine connoisseur picking out delectable delights and I think with the amount I've seen now all those subtle references might actually make sense! lol I know I enjoyed Lucky Star way more second time round because I knew what they were actually parodying or talking about! Awesome Samurai Troopers (Ronin Warriors) was one of the first anime I watched as a kid. I even had the cheap flimsy action figures for them lol. I still need to buy the Blu-ray one day hopefully. Crying Freeman was a weird one but do love ikegami art from the manga. Glad to see a new video from you Blaize!

Glad to see you back. I really dig Demon City Shinjuku. Agreed story is meh, but it's got some great atmosphere and some really good scenes as well. The first printing Samurai Troopers all had the bad slipcovers. The new printings are curved. I mentioned before but whoever they use as manufacture doesn't seem to handle 4 disc and higher packaging well.

I haven't watched any of these, but Demon City Shinjuku definitely has me intrigued! I also need to buy Gunbuster, still haha

YES, you know a haul is going to be SO GOOD when it starts with Gunbuster : D I also try not to spoil Gunbuster (which is why I never really spoke about it) when I mention it to people. Seeing it in HD is unreal, it made me realize how janky the versions I saw way back when were ultimately. (Like, the files I saw had scenes cut out from it!) It's a must have for any anime collector with any love for mech and/or drama ^^ I took so many screenshots on my watches of the bluray, especially with the way they depict space. I know I've seen Demon City Shinjuku, but I literally do not remember it at all, other than it's weirdly beautiful? Especially the backgrounds if I recall correctly. Ah, I should get that bluray, I need to add it to my list. Videos like this always add more to my buy list (and I'm not complaining) I was just about to type I'm watching Samurai Troopers when I heard my name! I've been summoned! Yes, I love the designs, and action ^^ Oh you have a mis-aligned slip, I heard that's usually something that gets corrected quickly, so very few ever go out like that. I'm really happy I went ahead and collected all of A-ko, I never had history with it, but I loved what I saw in the first one. Really happy we got the og 4! I mentioned it before but I really need to make a weekend out of watching all of them, but I haven't even had time to sit let alone plan new watches (funny how life goes from too boring to too busy in a flash) Oh I didn't know Crying freeman blu ray has the UK dub. TBH I know next to nothing about it. HAHA I think the reason they are so nude may be more related to the creators wanted them to be naked than the plot LOL Weirdly, I saw a couple of the DVDs out and about right after Discotek announced it. Infinite Ryvius has a similar artstyle to gundam seed. I think it's done by the same character designer .

@Blaize V I agree with you're thoughts on double Zeta . The original Zeta is better. I'm only going to finish double Zeta for the lore of a certain character in Gundam Unicorn. Gundam Unicorn makes alot of references to previous Gundam series. Plus to a fault, I'm a bit of a completetionlist .

@Blaize V I'm gonna be honest Gundam Fighter G is my least favorite. I think it's entertaining but it's too lighthearted for me as a Gundam fan. I prefer more serious Gundam shows . Gundam G Fighter is just parody of Gundam.

@Blaize V If you want something new in the Gundam franchise, I recommend watching Gundam Witch from Mercury. The ending was little bit rushed in my opinion, but overall it's a really good Gundam series. Gundam Witch From Mercury dose something new and different from the other Gundam series, so if you're tired of the horrors of war stories then this Gundam Anime might be up you're ally.

You might like Gundam The Origin. I feel it dose adds more to Chars character and other characters that weren't in the original T.V. Anime. I personally felt invested enough in the trilogy films to want to start the full original T.V. Anime from 1979. Which I plan on watching soon , once I'm done with Rahxephon.

2:07 Idk that aspect of Gundam didn't bother me too much. Because in reality, there are child soilders in the 3rd world countries. A kid being forced to a pilot a Gundam may seem too silly but it can happen in real life. Take away the fantastical element of piloting a robot and what you're left with is a child or youth being forced to participate in war. Which again dose happen. I'd say that's pretty realistic. I just wish we had a more diverse cast of main characters in age range. Instead of just adolescents, why not have adult characters as the main character of a Gundam series? The only Gundam series I can think of that has an adult cast is Gundam Thunderbolt. Most of Gundam Thunderbolts main characters are adults, even their pilots. Which is pretty rare for a Gundam series .

@Blaize V Unironically my first introduction to Moblie Suit Gundam, was Gundam Unicorn. Ever since I saw Gundam Unicorn, I've been a fan since . I've also seen Chars counterattack and the 3 trilogy films that are based off the original Gundam series 1979.

I recommend seeing Gundam the Origins Anime if you haven't seen it yet. There's a Manga for Gundam the Origins as well.

I actually like the artstyle of Gundam seed. But it's not my most favorite artstyle when it comes to Gundam Anime. My favorite Gundam series is either Zeta Gundam, Gundam 0080 war in a pocket, Gundam Thunderbolt and Gundam Hathaway. I do like Gundam Unicorn , Gundam Witch From Mercury , Gundam Wing /Endless Waltz , Turn A Gundam, Gundam 00 and The original Gundam 1979 as well. I pretty much like almost all of the Gundam series . I'm not the hugest fan of Gundam G fighter though, it's a fun watch but it's alot more light hearted and I prefer more serious and dark Gundam series . That's just my personal preference.

@Blaize V I love the Devil Man Ova series, but the dub is so hilariously bad that I can't take the story seriously with the english version. The story of Devil Man actually has a pretty well written and deep story about the horrors of humanity. It's quite good. That's why I watched the Ova in sub only. @Blaize V Idk man dubs usually sound very akward or really bad to me in my opinion. I usually watch most Anime in sub, 99% of time. The Japanese voice acting is just way better usually and dosen't sound goofy or silly. There are some good dubs though that I like, which isn't alot, but they're that good in my opinion to make me willing to watch the english version of these four series. 1.) Ergo Proxy dub 2.) Cowboybepop dub 3.) Fullmetal Alchemist dub 4.) Casshern Sins dub Those are the only english dubs that sounded good to me.

@Blaize V Well in fairness , Record of Lodoss War was a novel and game series before it was adapted as a Anime ova. That's probably why there's alot of name dropping of places. I think the creators assumed most people have read the books or played the games. Most of the Japanese fanbase has read the books or played the game. Idk if the novels are translated into english yet, but I'd like to read them to better understand the world and lore of the ova series.

I wonder if they'll ever re-release the 1999 version on DVD with the 2011 version being a thing

That remaster of seed is pretty bad. I bought the the ultimate edition and within a few minutes I took the disk out and put the sd version in. The remaster is cut to 16:9 so you get a couple fuzzy weirdly cut frames then it cuts to the new footage which looks clean than back to weird and zoomed in. The sd Blu-rays looked good to me. I’m not a big seed fan but I’m glad I got the sd Blu-rays
