Wow that's pretty crazy. Find it amazing considering how long it took to sell out that people are out there willing to pay those prices. I suppose some just discovered the series late but I don't think I could ever spend that much on a single Anime. Still can't believe I spent $800 tbh.

@@BlaizeV I almost passed on getting mine but changed my mind a month or two before it sold out. I don’t regret it at all because of how much I love the show. Now I just need to watch the remake

You and I do the exact same thing, where we sell things thinking we will never go back to it, ONLY to want it back again later anyway ^^; I'm terrible about that, but lately I'm just keeping everything because for once I'm able to do so. Always nice to see when you win something back : D I haven't heard much about Those who Hunt Elves, but now I'm interested after hearing you talk about it, and yes the stack packs always feel weird. As if we are gambling on a scratch or not LOL Been meaning to get Mezzo myself and just never fit it into my budget, so it was nice to see it here ^^ Never saw Daphne and I don't know anything about it, but I do always look at that cover when I see it shopping online randomly or on ebay, the characters just look cute to me ^^ (Same can be said about Samurai Harem, but also looks cute!) I love watching your hauls, I always learn something new and see cool anime. I'm so sorry I'm so late to this and part 2 but just know its always a blast to watch these ^^

I've regretted selling quite a few Anime over the years. I have started to sell a couple more again just recently but I'm trying to only focus on ones that either I've upgraded to Blu Ray or at the very least I've seen already. Like selling Tytania before watching it and especially before lesser titles that I owned was foolish lol. But I'm happy to have it back again. As I say Those who Hunt Elves is a fun time but also that opinion doesn't carry with everyone who has seen it. I know the individual ADV releases are very cheap so if you don't mind the extra space being taken up then I would recommend going that route if you every feel like trying the series. Hoping to do a long overdue back to back viewing of Mezzo's OVA and the TV series laster this year. I really like Umetsu's character designs and the bold colors of his sci fi worlds. No worries about any 'late' comment or something. The videos are there for whenever someone wants to watch them be it now or later. So long as someone enjoys them I don't mind :)

Although Daphne in the Brilliant Blue is known for its revealing outfits, I'd say it's more of an action/mystery series than an ecchi one. I decided to track down the Geneon singles (without artbox) back in 2018, as they were cheaper than the 2 Sentai sets. Not an all-time classic by any means, but still has "pleasant surprise" potential.

Good to know, I watched the opening few minutes when I got the sets and I liked that small portion well enough. Sounds abit like Divergence Eve then where the character designs kinda undersell the actual content of the series...if that made any sense.

14:30 -- I share similar sentiments on anime from that era, whether 4:3 or 16:9. When I first "officially" got into anime back in 2003, it was stuff from the late 90s and obviously the early/mid-2000s that were coming out on DVD or via fansubs -- at first shared with me by friends on CD-R. Despite their objective flaws, I like that early-2000s stuff still had "throwback" features like outlandish hairstyles and colors, chibis, overreactions, randomly-appearing animal ears/tails, and the overall washed-out/dreamlike/otherworldly look that got supplanted by the "cinematic realism" ushered in by KyoAni later in the decade. So out of curiosity, I went through and compiled a list of all the SD 4:3 2000s digipaint anime that were released in the US. (However, Last Exile isn't on there, as it's 16:9.) I'd agree that watching, let alone collecting, all 294 of them isn't a worthwhile endeavor. Especially since there's a lot of long-running kids' shows, random OVAs, and other dreck in there. If anyone's interested in looking through them, I've posted the list on my MAL blog; just add /blog.php?eid=886018 to the main site URL. I counted 186 I've completely seen, and another 32 I've partially seen or plan to watch.

You are so right when you say about the new era with the Cinematic Realism look. Backgrounds became so much more detailed and while many can look truly incredible it also meant alot of identity became lost. For example I just watch Haibane Renmei again earlier this week and even with that fuzzy kinda bad looking early SD widescreen I still found myself blown away by how the show looked almost 20 years after it aired. Just beautifully designed and something we just don't get to see too much of anymore. I checked out your blog post and damn I have seen far less of these shows that I realized. Probably a quarter at most which is as surprising as it is exciting.

I've gotten a few in recent years due to going back and getting late ADV releases. I will probably replace them. Though in the case of Those Who Hunt Elves I doubt I could find a case that wide that only holds 4 DVDs.

I hate stack packs, I don't understand it either. I was so mad that the Rahxephon steelbook is a stack pack, though they're blurays so they won't likely scratch. I've always wanted to watch Those Who Hunt Elves. Mostly for the beefy guy on the cover. Is Samurai Heaven good? I'm surprised it's an expensive dvd to find. haha

Yeah stack packs are frustrating especially as they often are bigger cases than those with trays. I think you would like Junpei, he is truly hilarious throughout and definitely my favourite character. Not watched Samurai Harem yet but I suspect it's probably just ecchi fodder and not alot else (not really sure why I bought it beyond it being cheaper than it should've been). It seems alot of the ecchi titles that go OOP shoot up in price. I was surprised by the asking price of a few of the titles I used to own. Like Demon King Daimo on Blu Ray is $100+ alot of the time on eBay.

Yeah the Hentai market in Japan was pretty big throughout the 90's. I follow a twitter account that shares old VHS covers for Anime and I swear 25% of them are Hentai lol
