The countryside winter based books are always heart melting😊 missed a genre from u that’s the horror, gothic winter vibe books , as winter morning without a cup of tea is unimaginable so A WISDOM OF TEA by noriko morishita could be loving ☕️
@AhyasCottage4 сағат бұрын
Ooh yesss I don’t tend to read too much horror although I’ve read more horror this year than ever before (that still being only a couple of books haha)🙈 A Wisdom of Tea sounds magical too, thank you so much for your recommendation!😍💕

Let's see...if you're interested in a middle grade story set in the Arctic, I would recommend Leila & the Blue Fox by Kiran Millwood Hargrave... Also when it comes to winter, I love reading historical fiction novels...for instance, The Circus Train by Amita Parikh❤

If you want a magical wonderful hidden gem for a Christmas book, I recommand to everybody "The Enchanted Sonata" by Heather Dixon Wallwork, it's a nutcracker retelling full of magic, adventure, love, the most beautiful atmospheric writing, it became one of my favourite book ever !

Merry Christmas Ahya! I recently completed my yearly reflection & I included finding your channel as one of my yearly highlights. Prior to finding your channel, I mostly read self-development books every once in a while & it started feeling like a chore. Your videos have introduced me to the world of fantasy books & have ignited my love for reading fiction. My life feels fuller, thank you ❤️.

Mimi Matthews is a safe place for me and "A Holiday by Gaslight" is one of my favourite Christmas romances, if you haven't read "North and South" by Elizabeth Gaskell, I strongly recommend it to you. It's the source of inspiration for Mimi Matthews' book. This year I am reading another historical romance, this time set around 1910 or so. It is inspired by "The Nutcracker" and the protagonist is a dreamer who has to choose between her childhood love or a very powerful yet cold union. The book is beautifully written by Roseanna M. White and its title is "Christmas at Sugar Plum Manor" Merry Christmas to you and your family and all of the people watching your videos!

Oooh I’m so excited to hear that you enjoyed A Holiday by Gaslight!! I can’t wait to read more of it🥰 And I had no idea that it was inspired by North and South😱 I started reading that a few weeks ago and loved it but I haven’t managed to continue so I definitely want to start again soon! Thank you also for the recommendation😍 it sounds so dreamy and I can’t wait to look it up❄️🎄

I don't keep or own many books, but I do own a copy of A Christmas Carol. It is one of the most beautiful stories. I have heard of Caraval and hear good things only about it. I have yet to read it though. I appreciated your review of Tomorrow and Tomorrow. . .etc. I have seen the book around all year and didn't really know what it was about. What do you tab in your books? I have been really really wanting to read All Creatures Great and Small. Glad it was good! I will be reading it in 2025 for sure. I read A Holiday by Gaslight last year during this season! It was too short in my opinion and I wanted more! I found it to be unique though with the idea of when pipes would have to be put into places with electricity and all that. It's snowing in your home (hehe). Cute effect. It is snowing outside where I live right now. :)
@AhyasCottageКүн бұрын
Awww thank you for watching the video🥹🤎 I usually use sticky tabs to mark things that I easily want to come back to in the future like beautiful nature descriptions or memorable quotes that were touching or swoonworthy romance quotes!!💕 How magical that it's snowing where you live! I had to bring the snow indoors since there's no sign of snow outdoors here ><❄
@TheMennomilistКүн бұрын
@AhyasCottage Oh that is a pretty nice way of doing it, with the tabs. I don't keep books really (just a handful honestly), as I would have nowhere to keep them all (I read 126 books this year so far alone, and at 41 with a family of five in a tiny apartment, I would have accumulated a full library of them), but I have a "quotes book" that I will use to write my favorites down in. I flip through the book every so often to reread my favorite quotes. I love that you keep tabs on nature descriptions! How lovely.

If you like Caraval then I think you'll like Once Upon A Broken Heart too. It's perfect for winter, it's fantasy romance and there are no explicit scenes

Lovely to see the Mirror Visitor book one by Christelle Dabos (at 7:22) 💙 It’s not often French books are successful enough to get translated into English (especially for genre literature like fantasy, of which there is already so much in English)… It’s a great YA series!

I read The Wood At Midwinter too. While it is very pretty (loved the art), it is way too short and brief of a story leaving me wanting a whole lot more. It was a bit odd, to be honest with you. I am also a Christian and felt it had a Christian theme of sorts. Oh the books you picked up do seem so lovely. I really like your taste. What lovely bookshops! I love when you get credits and money in rewards at bookstores. They are so dangerous!!! I actually DID buy a book recently and don't normally buy things (I'll be donating it in one of the Little Libraries on the sides of the roads we have here that people place in their yards). I bought and read The Restaurant of Lost Recipes (2nd book in a series). It was so cute. Definitely a lovely book and I think you'd enjoy the series if you haven't read them yet.

I totally agree! It was so beautiful but it almost felt like a sample pamphlet to a bigger story! I definitely noticed Christian undertones too (fellow Christian here!) but again they didn't give enough for me to be sure if they were intentional or not <3
