I don't find the second outfit to be Victorian modern goth at all. It looks like more burlesque/ romantic goth, there are a lot more better Victorian modern goth dress out there than what has been showen here.

That head piece is literally 1920s vamp Theda Bara. It kinda makes me mad how historically inaccurate this is. Theda wore sexy dresses and dark make up too. Everything but the pink hair. Pink hair didn't happen until the 1950s.

Looks modern Victorian to me! High low overskirt parasol . it is pieces put together from the era .......black mourning attire...... Late Vic was a mourning period for the queen. Wear we get the look!
@amberhoward78075 жыл бұрын
People want to act like they are experts when if they only looked at the pieces individually they would see how it fits in the modern Victorian Goth section... And when it comes to Gothic style, many people still argue over things, so to me trying to be right about Gothic styles is just setting us all up for failure... We all have opinions on what we think. Goth has become an all over the board type of thing. So many boxes we want to put everything in..... It's kinda stupid. And when people want to act like know it alls about the fashion and especially the music, it gets annoying as all hell!

Llike It's Black Friday said, the second one looks more like a bordello Victorian figure. She is very pretty, but the clothes are not really Victorian 'social life' adapted.....there are so many frocks and dresses out there that are modernized Victorian, that the bordello look was not necessary in my opinion. Great video once again, but it could have been better, if you compared 1800's Victorian social wear to 2000's adapted social wear. Anyway: thank you for your effort!

The historical dress is *gorgeous.* The historical Victorian Gothic style will always be my favorite. It's so refined and elegant, feminine yet powerful... I just wish I had the money to actually dress that way, lol.

I love the traditional mourning dress better than the "modern" one. Perhaps it's my age, but while the other one looks good on some people, it isn't for everyone. I like Black Friday's take on it, as well as people I've seen on Gothic and Goth. I loved your other videos, but this one only had one interpretation of modern Victorian.

Being a goth lady myself who absolutely adores steampunk Victorian I have to point out that we're not trying to completely recreate the look to the finest details. What we're trying to achieve is to put together a look that is emblematic of all the things that were finest in this era.

Bit of a shame the 1860s inspired historical dress was supported by 18th century style paniers instead of a full crinoline, but otherwise, pretty fantastic job!! (I took my degree in historical costume so I tend to be really picky!!)
@LiisaLadouceur6 жыл бұрын
Thanks Lizzy. We like that kind of pickiness. Learning is good. For this look I think our stylist did an awesome job making an authentic look from the reproduction pieces we had avail to us. Glad you liked it!
@sc0ttishlass5 жыл бұрын
Yep, it looked like they used the paniers to get the early 1860s fluffiness and then added a big bow and waist bump to imitate the crinoline of the bustle. *rolls eyes*

1:37 personal, I love black lace and fringe and beautifully made black stockings with little bows at the tops attaching to her under garment to hold her stockings up. That lady could fit as a third party example tinging in the possible 1920s from a guess at stylistic wedding choices over the years.
