Been a fan of Frank since the first Gallows album (he left after the second and they've never been much without him). He's released some brilliant albums with the Rattlesnakes and, when they announced he'd be standing in for Lydon, I was pretty excited by the news. I bet the original members left of the Pistols must be horrified if no more. There is no second to Johnny Rotten, he was the voice, the pictures of the band and I am not a fan of Lydon / Rotten but let's give him this credit .Sounds more like heavy metal ,the singer is atrociously bad at singing rather he shouts.The Sex Pistols should have remained where they were ; the past.

I watched the gig in KZbin with Frank Carter and I think he did it very well. In my opinion he has respected the original songs and matched very well with the band. Frank contributed with a young energy. ❤

Funny that 10cc and the Sex Pistols are mentiomed in the same newspaper column - as Steve Jones stole some 10cc instruments maybe even the ones referred to in the newspaper cutting here ! He mentions in Lonely Boy that he contacted someone from 10cc many years later to apologise and offer compensation.

Heard OF the Pistols in the press long before I actually heard them. On Radio Luxemburg in 1976, they broadcast 'Anarchy' on the radio. Nowhere else would play them, least of all Radio 1. Thought ' That sounds good, original' I was hooked. A new direction.

I wonder if Lydon knows about your channel? If he ever checks it and your Pistols vids out and sees your obvious love for him and his band it’d be cool if he wanted to come on with you for an interview.

If they use the name Sex Pistols as a publicity stunt, who cares? In reality, I don't think it's a trick; this is a false problem. Really dirty trick is autotune. The reason is important and the Pistols know very well what it means to close a space to play and/or enjoy some music. And nowadays, many people have their streams (the albums seem to have gone to the soul basin), they don't go to shows and the concert halls are under pressure from both the music market and the real estate market. It's what The Specials sang and it still happens. And you will also have the privilege of hearing Glen Matlock's competent bass.

Hi Maggie & followers. Another great video; just a few points......I thought the tiles outside the Marquee looked somehow different but if you look to the bottom left corner, the little air-vent in the Pistols photo is clearly still there to orientate the viewer. Secondly, you read a quote about the Vortex & made mention of someone called John Miller. He was an interesting guy. He ran the Vortex, promoted the Sham 69 gig when they played on a rooftop just off Oxford Street (all getting arrested in the process) & it was him who, with something of a Pistols connection, hit the headlines after discovering where Ronnie Biggs had fled to, unsuccessfully attempting to fly him back to the UK to collect some sort of reward! (He wrote about his life in a book called 'Former Soldier Seeks Employment' which is available on ebay for a couple of quid) Lastly, when you were talking about the Pistols at the Marquee & talking about how it was described as 'a orgy', you showed the little newspaper cutting that said 'Pistols startled the audience with semi-nude girls'. If you look above those words however, there's an appeal by the band 10cc, offering £100 for the return of 2 guitars stolen from them at the Hammersmith Odeon on a Tuesday night. This theft would possibly have been down to Steve Jones or if not him, almost certainly to someone he knew so another Pistols connection there!
@GriefTourist
@GriefTourist 4 сағат бұрын
Brilliant never knew all that about the Vortex but I remember the attempted kidnap and the name Miller. Steve mentions in Lonely Boy that he contacted one of 10cc - probably Eric Stewart or Graham Gouldman and apologised for stealing an instrument from them decades earlier and offering compensation. The 10cc guy said it didn't matter.

Should have used the guy from the Sex Pistols Experience. Watched a bit on the tube, and can only say "it's alright, but don't really like it" and Frank Carter does give it some, but that style of vocal doesn't really match with the music really.

Joy division must of been great there. I saw them a few months earlier at a small venue,around 400 people. Crackers also used to be on Friday lunchtime. Was such a good time whatever you were into music wise.love those pics outside the 100 club,the whole punk outfit didn’t really happen til it was all over. Like you said many had long hair,or Bowie,Roxy music,soul boys with a slight bit of hair colouring.Thanks Stuart

You might want to listen to "Some Product" again! It's not a compilation of hits. It's very entertaining. It's mostly spoken word - interviews, radio commercials for Pistols "product" and so on. I'd rather listen to it on CD though because they've used some inferior sounding sources for some of these interviews (most of those we have in better quality now) so I don't need extra surface noise. lol. "Some Product" is a lot of fun.
