Installed mine yesterday and maybe just got lucky because I didn't need to apply any heat on my '23 Tuareg. It did require some muscle but both the nuts ended up breaking free. The harder part for me was getting the triple clamp back on. I don't have a center stand and eventually realized I needed to jack up the front to lift weight off the front end for the fork geometry to realign properly. All is well now and looking forward to trying this stabilizer out on the COBDR. Thanks for this video Ran! I always look forward to your Tuareg content!

@lazy-pilot

@@toddlesh501 I only operated my Tuareg for a few hundred miles on the full de-cat exhaust (Arrow header and Arrow Sonora muffler) before I put an UpMap tuner on it. That said, I didn’t notice it was running lean with noticeable dead spots; I didn’t however get a chance to pull the spark plugs and check the color. Thankyou for the video. I replaced the bolt for the brake lever and started getting this error. Now that I knew what to look for I could see I had pushed the plunger off to the side when replacing the lever so it wasn't hitting the brake lever and depressing. 85% sure it was an M8. I had some spare bolts with a Phillips head that only needed to be cut to length, about 1-1/2 inches (38mm). And I ended up switching out the tie-down rings in this video with a slotted ring, made by Giant Loop. These require me to only loosen the straps and slide the straps out, versus having to spend significantly more time fully pulling them through a mounting ring. www.cyclegear.com/accessories/giant-loop-mounts-2023?gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD_Ag1d0R_JqxZ3QDQySK1PCVfCEe&gclid=CjwKCAjw3NyxBhBmEiwAyofDYb8ia3mvivOl2gTwBWr7fdgFolyb8IMDzQvPM7NwpJOe4USL4n9xDRoCkecQAvD_BwE

Hey, sorry for your trouble. This isn’t an uncommon issue. You’ll want to see if you can get any of the screws removed and then use a long skinny flat blade screwdriver to jam the blind-nuts and keep them from spinning as your loosen the screw. Once you finally have that panel removed. I recommend using using a light amount of epoxy on blind-nuts to keep them from spinning.

@lazy-pilot
@lazy-pilot 5 ай бұрын
It was still very lively and fun to ride even loaded up. Where I noticed it was going up extremely long hill climbs, near the top of a pass. I had to rear its neck a bit more but it just kept singing and pushing me up the hill. Because of weight, I did take it easier over some areas, trying to limit the amount of times I had both tires off the ground; but I have since replaced the rear spring to accommodate that extra weight and it’s performed beautifully.

What tires are running on your bike and are you happy with them?
@lazy-pilot
@lazy-pilot 5 ай бұрын
I run a Continental TKC80 in the front because it’s such a reliable and predictable tire on-road and off-road in all sorts of terrain. The rear tire is where I am experiment more, I’m always trying to find a balance between tread life and performance. I’m currently running a Motoz Tractionator GPS on the rear. It has solid tread strip in the middle so it has very solid mileage performance. And it also provides better than average off-road traction. When it loses traction under hard braking and begins to slide in loose dirt/rock it is stable. I never ran the stock tires, I pulled and sold them immediately so I don’t have that as a comparison; I heard terrible things and decided to immediately run TKC80 tires front and rear. The problem with a TKC80 in the rear is that you can only expect to get 1200 miles from that tire before the worn tread blocks are noticeable off-road. I expect to continually get 3,000-3,200 miles out of my current front/rear tire combo, replacing them at about the same time.

The Tuareg is my 27th motorcycle purchase in my lifetime, and I will say it’s average in terms of reliability. I do appreciate the interactions I’ve had with my Aprilia dealers when taking care of a water pump oil seal drip, which they repaired quickly under full warranty. I had the oil drip before a 1200mi trip and the dealer told me to “just ride it and don’t put too much oil in it, it’s probably losing less than you think.” I pressed on, completed my trip and added MAYBE 1/5 of a quart (946ml) during the entirety of that mileage. Besides that, I’ve had one loose spoke in the front wheel that took a whole 5 minutes to tighten. That’s about all I can think of presently.

Installed the bike specific set on my 2024, the mounting brackets are not left /right specific as they clamp just before the bars begin to taper and they install underneath rather than over the top. It is required to remove the plastic shrouds over the master cylinder and the clutch lever assembly or they will not fit. The underside gets a bit muddy along with everything else but just some medium pressure water at a car wash does the trick. I usually try to run it through a car wash half-way through a multi day ride especially to get the lower forks, drive chain and radiator clean. I’ll shed 10-20lbs of mud sometimes. Then I’ll blast the chain with penetrating chain lube to force the water out.
