Hey man what do you torque the valve cover bolts to? And i did it exactly how you described but now it sounds like there's a lot more ticking in the motor then before. Btw i bought it used and it has 1250 miles on it. It was missing and sputtering around 5-6 rpms before and when i got the valve cover off those valves were very tight. I adjusted them to .005 and .004. What do you think is happening with all that ticking?
@SteverGarage8 күн бұрын
Just snug did not use torque wrenches on the valve cover. The motor being a flat tappet will be kinda noisy with proper gapping. Should sound like a sowing machine.
@frankmurray2228 күн бұрын
@@SteverGarage yeah since I adjusted the valve there's serious ticking going on in the motor. Scared the shit out of me but after watching some yt videos I've seen that that pretty normal. Insane to me! I think I'm gonna re-adjust them to .003 and .002 or .0025. They've been tight for the life of the bike 1,250 miles later. Idk it I'll just ride it for 100 miles like this and see if it quiets at all

Interesting review!! @8 mins you talk about yours going through batteries. Just curious if you've ever tried a battery tender with a quick disconnect (name brand "battery tender" includes those as part of the kit). I'm running tenders with quick disconnects for my 2008 HD Road King, my 2015 Arctic Cat ATV and just got a 23 Hawk DLX EFI that I have already purchased it's own tender for. The batteries for my HD and AC ATV are ORIGINAL!!!!! My friend also has regularly tendered the battery for his '04 250 Ozark -ORIGINAL battery!!! Tenders do work wonders on batteries, anything that sits for any period of time just gets plugged in, and viola -saves$$$$😁

Good video though should be using metric tools maybe as Jeep have been this way for years? Also you were lucky with that 'earth' wire as that goes straight to the battery positive terminal and if you hadn't disconnected the battery you would be in for fireworks if it touched anything as the actual earth is through the metal casing itself.

They do quite well. I find that in lots of slow rough trails when the bike starts to get really hot the clutch will like jump a bit But all in all pretty great. And keeping the oil fresh definitely keeps clutch and transmission operations working correct.

My Gladiator is an early 2021 Rubicon -- just discovered the leak so it looks to have been leaking for a while (but who knows exactly when it started). Likewise to your situation -- everything you describe is about 100% what I could say -- the local Jeep dealer said it was leaking in the same 3 places (when they did a "leak test"). They get their glass work done at a local (but large/experience and decently customer-rated) auto-glass shop, so if they get me a new back window, it'll be done at that shop. I called that shop and talked to the manager, and he said this "Jeep thing" is common, and they've replaced the rear glass on Gladiators before...and they've had NONE of those replacements come back because they were leaking again -- which is reassuring, since my 36-month OEM factory warrant expires mid-April 2024. At lease it's "on paper" now as a warranty item in case I have this same issue after the warranty expires. Have not heard of any progress yet (took it in to Jeep Service just before the Thanksgiving holiday) but I guess "we" (my Service Advisor, the lovely "Elizabeth") are waiting for Jeep to authorize it and say how to fix it: New glass or not I suppose. If I don't hear back re: any progress on that in the next few days, will call and find out what's up. I don't think it's the glass itself (of course) but how the mounting/sealing of it was designed -- i.e., a serious design flaw. If they try to remove my original glass (and it doesn't break) and put it back in, I will know that (a mark is on the original they won't notice but *I* will -- took a pic of the mark "for my records" before I took it in to them). They don't have the truck now, I do, so I guess I'll get a call to make an app't with the glass shop vs. taking it back to Jeep Service and being w/o the truck for who knows how long. I hope. -- BR
@SteverGarage7 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment A note after the replacement of the glass no leaks have occurred. :)

@@SteverGarage Maybe the glass shops do the install differently than the factory does? Whatever, I hope if MY glass is replaced it never leaks again. Otherwise, my Gladiator has been fine with only one other minor issue. "Jeep Wave" -- BR
