Came here to figure out the best way to purchase bricklink sets. To buy the set outright, or purchase individual parts of the set. And how to go about buying those individual parts. Any suggestions help.
@CraftedBricks15 күн бұрын
Do you mean buying the BrickLink designer sets or regular Lego sets? Either way search for the set you want on BrickLink by its set number. Click on the search result for the set to go to the set's Catalogue page. You'll see on the Items for Sale tab prices for people selling the set as a whole. To figure out the cost of buying the parts instead it's a bit more complicated. From that same page click on the 'Part Out' link under My Wanted List. You'll need to go through the steps to add the parts to a Wanted list. Then try the 'Buy all' option from the Wanted list itself to get an idea of costs. It's unlikely that a single seller will be able to sell all the parts from a Wanted list but you'll get an idea for cost anyhow. I'm going through something similar for an old retired set I'm after where the current pricing is very high, so it's going to be better to buy parts to make the set.

@CraftedBricks , thanks for this vid.. I finally just decided to build this set during the holiday!! Quick question for you!! Does the MOD only impact the front suspension to compress it in fixed state? in After state looks like the rear suspension is lower as well but in the instructions, looks like only front suspension is modded. Any clarification you can provide? Thanks much!! Thanks for these 2 vids you made.. looks awesome!!
@CraftedBricksАй бұрын
No problem at all and I'm glad you not only liked the videos but that you've decided to build and lower this set. It's looks really good in its lowered stance. The instructions (not by me) cover compressing the springs on both the front and rear axle. May be as you haven't built the model yet the instructions from the modder who published this seemed unfamiliar. It'll make sense when you get to the build. All the best!
@alexlude.gt4rsАй бұрын
Thanks for prompt reply @CraftedBricks! Looking at the mod instructions I only see mod to front suspension. Is rear suspension same type of mod with same pieces as front? Thank you!!
@CraftedBricksАй бұрын
@@alexlude.gt4rs - so I do appreciate it is a little difficult as the instructions were produced by a German modder and don't contain 'instruction' text. In the PDF you downloaded from his site. Page 2 shows the parts to compress the axles for the rear of the model. Pages 3, 4 and 5 show the mod to compress the front axles. Remember to look also at my comments in the Description of the update video regarding parts required and doubling up on the front axle supports.

@maapaa2010Ай бұрын
In my view, the reason I'd never get into this is volatility. You can't be sure the value of the product you've bought will retain it's value over the several years necessary for it to potentially increase in value. The whole point of investment is assets gaining value. Given the unpredictable nature of the market you can never be sure it will work in a favourable outcome. Its also very time consuming its the reason i never did stocks..
@CraftedBricksАй бұрын
I fully agree with your overall sentiment here! ...I think you may mean investment uncertainty versus volatility though. As in it is hard to be certain on which Lego sets will do well as investment over time. It's not that the pricing of sets after they have retired goes up and down rapidly i.e. that prices are volatile. You are right on the time consuming aspect, it can consume more time than expected especially when trying to arrange sales with prospective buyers. All the best and thanks for sharing.

It seams LEGO Star Wars are the sets that gain the most value. Of course that always depends on what era the set represents. The original trilogy gaining the most and Disney era not really wanted much.
@CraftedBricksАй бұрын
Yes I'd agree with those points. I'd still steer clear of investing in Lego (as there are much better investment options out there), but if you are going to, investing in some of the large Star Wars UCS sets is a relatively safe option.

MOCs and Different Factions and Top 10 Castle Reviews etc. Hope you decide to come back, and Maybe do some more Castle Videos like your Enhanced Yellow Castle Video which i only recently discovered. And Which has so far, cost me a Fortune.. Those 12 Yellow Arches were Expensive!
@CraftedBricks2 ай бұрын
I think I know the KZbin channel you are talking about. It's good that the Castle theme has had a real resurgence! I've a future Castle project in mind that's a similar scale to my Black Falcon's fortress which was a lot of fun to design and complete. I hear you on those 1x3 yellow arches, I wish they were affordable on BrickLink. Sometimes when sourcing rare parts it is worth having a look at Webrick, although not official Lego parts, if you need a high quantity of an expensive part can be a good alt option for a build.
@antonyblunn59252 ай бұрын
@CraftedBricks Look forward to seeing the Result of that Project. And yes, The 1x3 Yellow Arches cost me £80. Luckily i have a contact here in the UK that can get most rare parts. I've re-designed the small Weapons Rack for my Super Enhanced Yellow Castle Project. The Blacksmith Shop and the Guard house I've Kept. May do something with the Other Corner where you put the table and Chair Eating area. Maybe a Small Jail cell in that corner like the one in the Big 6080 Lion Knights Castle from 1884. Or Both a Jail Cell and an Eating Area....

I collect these sets despite the playability not being that high. I just like the rarity of them. So I happen to have 3 or 4 of these, 3 space shuttles, 3 of the alien spaceships with fibre optics and about 10 of the extreme creatures sets. I also have about 20 of the hubs as spares and a collection of about 400 cables, 50 micromotors and hundreds of other motors. The cables from 1994 and back have better wires that don't shed their insulation.

Hi Simon. I just found your channel - looks like you put in a lot of effort! I always feel bad for high quality productions that don't seem to get many views. I know what it feels like. I actually put up some very amateur videos a bit over a decade ago, some of which have gotten over 100k views - even though they are just one take home videos of modified technic sets with no explanation. I've thought about getting more involved now, after turning my channel into a successful train driver view channel, but it seems like the lego technic theme is already widely presented on KZbin by people that do much more professional videos than I would. You did a really great job here though! I definitely share your passion for the 80's and 90's technic sets - that was the golden age! They seem to be a lot more common over in Europe than they were in Australia... and as a result I have a huge collection now 😅 Taking a break is always good when the passion is a bit low. Wishing you all the best on your future endeavours! Greetings from an Aussie train driver in Switzerland :)
