1000% yes! love the Fast Back look. if it had old school vent windows, i'd be all over it. it gets stupid hot here in Texas.

Mark 5 is a great frame upgrade. Realistic build price for one of these cars with IRS rear suspension, Wildwood brakes, leather seats, shipping costs, new crate engine, professional body work/paint is around 75-80k.

I will always see an upgraded chassis structure as a plus if it doesn't mess with the original dynamics of the car. This just increases the performance envelope, power capacity, and comfort of the car

4:22, it's going to be nerve racking installing and removing that top while trying not too scratch the paint.

OK this is the car I badly want, now my country (Denmark) has limited offers of autenticity with endless soul. Admired the Shelby Cobra since as a kid in the 70ies. Thought we were saying good bye to the good, old world in the 2010s. But this kind of thing is very encouraging to a petrolhead for decates. I'd gladly sell my house, boat, wife, kids and dogs for this thoughtfully updated piece of soul. We only live once.

Never been a fan of FFR and I've been in the cobra market for many years. Saw them way back 20+ years ago at the Carlisle kit and imports shows. ERA and Superformance were definitely at the top. FFR is baseline, budget and their fit and finish shows. Every FFR I've seen at a car show just looks wrong, the doors don't line up right, there are huge gaps, etc. Maybe they have improved with this next generation.

The hard to install looks like it would be too easy to scratch up the paint on install if you aren't very careful. Not really that much room of error.
@DarrenTarmey2 күн бұрын
For me yes as still looks like a cobra but runs better.

I hope they still make these kits when I actually have the time and money to do something like this.

I'm not sure what you do with this car. The wind is brutal on the highway. Unclear if the new one is air-conditioned. Not counting the time to build, the actual cost of ownership could buy a C8 Corvette.

Built 2. Same fitment issues in both cases. Wait and see. The body panels on both cars I built were disaster. The body doesn't sit centered on the frame. After all these years things don't line up I feel sorry for the people are going to try and put this a new roof on this new car it's going to be a nightmare and you're going to need to have at least another 30 to $40,000 to finish this as it is in the picture beware just telling you what everybody else is already stated.

You would sale more if there was a place to race them, especially here in Texas. There are many tracks here with no races running. Keep the cost down on building these cars for racing and you will see the average American flock to the sport. Just my opinion.

I hate convertibles & roadsters, so i think the coupe is a great idea. It looks great, its more usable for those that drive their cars rather then stare at them in the garage. Its a no brainer to modernize the car, especially since most customers arnt familiar with how the real car drove.

Lovehow they put 25k... effung cars end up being 75k or more... Pffft ...
@TallTimbersUSA2 күн бұрын
Haha, "at LEAST $40k," is right, I've fully priced out one of these including engine / trans / rear end / tires / misc parts / crate / freight / body work and it came to $76k. If you need someone to assemble it for you, you're probably looking at like $100k all said and done.

Most people I hear about who owned the original Cobra learned to fear and respect that car. It was an extremely lightweight body wrapped around a huge engine and they felt like they were barely holding it together at speed .Most said the engine was too powerful for the body. Sounds like they're working towards correcting it.
