Thanks for this video. I have a large pedalboard and tube amp setup that I love and want to keep long term but I fly rig and while I've been looking at Kemper, Fractal, Neural etc. they're really hard to justify when I don't use a lot of effects. I was thinking of doing something like you've done with the Tonex + delay + modulation (maybe Boss 200s as they're multi-fx) + DI along with a midi controller. I have a Boss ES8 on my main board so I'm familiar with running MIDI in dedicated loops. The Midi Controller you're using as well as others like the morningstar have only a single input and output. Is the solution to just daisy chain the midi for a small number of devices like that? If that can work I feel like this would make an awesome fly rig for covers and jamming etc.

No worries! Yes, you can daisy chain the MIDI through multiple FX that have all MIDI I/O. From memory, I think Morningstar have a good video on how to set this up. Cheers ; )

Nice video. I had a Fender 65 deluxe reverb but sold it because it was too loud even though I use an Ironman attenuator. Now I have a new amp with built-in two-notes captor x, which has a full loadbox and cab simulator function. My speaker is a pair of 8-inch studio monitors. This combination lets me use the amp freely and gives me the full tone of the amp. I would recommend this method over the attenuator plus cabinet because the studio monitors can be used for a home studio. A real cabinet is only for a guitar rig and you can use it only at entry-level volume which is not for its designated working situation.

I live in an apartment with my family. If you live alone in a big house, and you can afford the high volume from a real cabinet, you don't need this loadbox because a real cabinet always sounds better.

strange following the same settings and my live logic sets 1-4 pc as toggle where yours is momentary... only 5,6 are momentary (bank change use likely the reason for it) did i miss something? went into cc na dset them to toggle, then back to momentary and then back to pc and they are now momentary all the way across. perfect.

It's flat out stupid that Nux didn't include anti feedback on their pedal. It's prone to tons of feed back when you turn up the signal. I'm taking mine back tomorrow.
@guitariq
@guitariq 16 күн бұрын
No worries. I've always found that putting a "feedback buster" in the sound hole of my guitar solves most issues. Other options would be notching out the problematic frequency with EQ or flipping the phase of your signal. But it kind of depends on your rig (and the volumes you're playing at). Hope that helps!

I don’t know much about this but this may be attainable with a Tube Screamer pedal. You just need to have the Trim dialed in and use different captures for different guitars.
@guitariq
@guitariq 26 күн бұрын
Yeah, a Tube Screamer would work great with the TONEX! The Z-TONE pedal is a more of a multi-function utility tool. So it's something different from an OD pedal. But you could certainly use a nice OD pedal to achieve a similar effect.

Should I be able to use an atenuator between the cabinet and the headbone? the idea is cracking the tubes of the amps within a reasonable recording volume Can this box allow both amps to run simultaneously? Lile mixing both clean channels from the amps into one cabinet

Yes, you could indeed run an attenuator (or load box) on the speaker output. Just make sure you always have a proper load attached to the heads your using. Cheers ; )

This unit's routing options and mute switch are confusing to me even after reading the manual. Does the mute switch mute both the Link(guitar) and Send (pre-amp signal) ?
@guitariq

Good question! Honestly, I haven't tested this... My assumption would be that it only mutes the output of the pedal (not the link) but I could be wrong.

Very interesting video. I have an original Carl Martin Delayla without tap tempo, and a Carl Martin Delayla XL with tap tempo. The XL is on my pedal board and used all the time. I never thought of using both like you suggest, so I'll be adding the the older Delayla to my pedal board. Something may have to be kicked off to make room for it though.

If I put my tc electronic flashback X4 after the tonex pedal ( like you have the halo), I lose some high end and a little volume at the output, do you find this to be true with your setup?
@guitariq
@guitariq Ай бұрын
No, not really. I'd assume the that Flashback wouldn't alter the sound of the TONEX. But if you're finding it's and issue, you could go for a delay that's "analog dry-through." This means the input what be touched by the A/D conversion. Hope that helps!

Thank you so much for the very informative video on session! Just bought the session and wondering what is the best way of chaining this in my rig. So do you reckon: Acoustic guitar -> Polytune 3 -> Venue (efx loop) -> session -> Chorus -> Blue sky -> Venue (efx loop) -> DI out Or Acoustic guitar -> Polytune 3 -> Session -> Venue (efx loop) -> Chorus -> Blue sky -> Venue (efx loop) -> DI out Thanks in advance!
@guitariq
@guitariq Ай бұрын
I'd experiment with both options. The benefit of having the session first is that any additional EQ moves won't affect the comp or saturation. However, you may prefer the Session after the EQ as a type of "finishing" effect. So both would work. It's just really about what you like the sound of ; )

How many inputs can the Blackstar live logic take? If you have a multi-effects for time-based effects like your reverb, chorus and delays like that of Zoom MS-70CDR, is it possible to take 2 inputs (Tonex+Zoom) and mix it up for your presets?
@guitariq
@guitariq Ай бұрын
Hey! There's only one input and output on the Live Logic. But for the type of setup you're describing, you'd just need to daisy chain multiple FX together via the MIDI I/O. This way the MIDI messages will be received by each pedal. Here's a great video explaining: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gHrddHiPq9ynZ68si=Ievj9OQw6KWlC694

I'm game for the full rig rundown. I'm particularly keen to know why you've got your Boss MO-2 in what appears to be the second to last position. I assume it's to take advantage of the stereo outs but it's an odd spot for a pitch shifter. Even one that tracks as well as the MO-2 does.
@guitariq

Nice! Yes, the top row is actually a second line of pedals that I'm running in parallel with my main rig. It actually doesn't hit the TONEX at all. Yeah, it's designed to see the signal coming straight from your guitar. That said, you can really place it wherever. The "Z-TONE" will just behave a little differently if it sees a buffered signal-that's all.

Great video. Thank you. I'm six decades into this including a good number of years in Sydney during what I consider to be the golden years of live music there, the mid 70s to the mid 80. I am embracing the new technology as best I can and stopped using amps a while ago. My present setup is the ToneX pedal into an HX Stomp XL with the ToneX providing the amps, cabs/IRs and the Stomp all effects and doing the switching. My question is, would the Z-Tone work in front of this with the guitar into the Z-Tone which would then go into the Stomp? If so I'm getting one right away. Thanks for your input on this.

Hey! Running the output of your reverb pedal into a line input should work. That said, for the best performance, usually you'd want to use a DI box or line isolator. Like this one: www.walrusaudio.com/products/canvas-stereo-dual-line-isolator-d-i?variant=42416441688299
