Usually late in the going that track needs a tight car. It drys and slicks off quite a bit.

well I dont know you yet, Geoff Dodge was it? but as you know racing runs deep in indiana, winged racing is not quite as big here but its still very much loved and still many hoosiers run both wing and nonwing cars, though some will say modifides are the big thing, also openwheel, anyway, its expensive to race but we have tracks not too far no matter where you go in the hoosier state though we lost a few this year gas city and southbend, but point is even in usac there are lots of guys that are tradesmen or come from a skilled trades background even the good ones, especially in the silver crown division, but to name a few that did trades or do them you got robert ballou he hauls stuff, shane cottle and for a time tmez do flooring, dakota armstrong in pavement silver crown hes a farmer, derick bischak he designs the shifting systoms for cummins diesle transmission in indy, taylor ferns is a lawer, one of the racers is a stem and sciance teacher, the great rocket tyler roarig that won the little 500 back to back he is a fabricator and racing shock maker, though there are some that do make a living turning a stearing wheel but vast majority do trades or semi skilled labor, its tough but it can be done if you are willing to try. though sponsors are a must, and knowing people, but being from central indiana I would say there is ripe oppertunity but knowing tmez will help you find and get the right people on your boat he is one of the biggest media names today out there

Man I wish young people nearing high school graduation and transitioning into further education or a work career would sit down and listen to folks like you. Modern society has brainwashed our youth into thinking you re a failure and will live a life of paycheck to paycheck if you do not get a degree. Nothing, absolutely NOTHING could be farther from the truth !!! I’m retired from a career in the auto/truck/fabricating/welding with an Upper Midwest Utility company. As my work career neared its end I was over $100k, full benefits (including FREE healthcare for life), a sizable pension, 401k, etc. etc..

Edit: I ran the math on rpm and left rear tire size later. If it’s not spinning a lot (which by the B main we had it hooked up pretty decent) it’s prolly closer to 150. 😂 but yes it’s a little unnerving when you’re struggling not to crash on the straits!

@@groundtoglory wow! On a half mile oval, that's probably 1000 foot straight aways. That's impressive acceleration. But I guess that's what you get with a 900 hp engine in a 1500 lb car. About how fast are you going in the corners? Looks can be deceiving. It doesn't seem that fast as a spectator watching the race.

@@James_Scheid that’s a good question. I’m not sure what mid corner speeds are at terre haute. Knoxville isn’t as fast on the straits but high 14 second laps aren’t unusual there qualifying when the air/track is good, which is average north of 120. Bloomington is a quarter with average speed ~90. Also, don’t forget to add a couple thousand pounds of downforce to your equation. Really helps those mid corner speeds!

Liking the on track footage. Is it as bumpy as it appears on camera? I think I would be peeing blood after giving my kidneys a beating like that. Had hoped to go see some of those races in Indiana, like Bloomington or TH. Havent been to the Action Track in probably 40 years. But I ended up going to San Diego that week so it didn’t work out. Thanks for taking us along. 😺

@@James_Scheid wilmot was rough. The camera actually smooths it out a little bit. They finally bladed it down after the dashes I believe and it was better (the grader operator was wearing a fire suit which I thought was impressive, or maybe he just took matters into his own hands)…but it was a little bit of a rodeo. I think we are going to go back to The action track in September, and will be at Bloomington, IN / Olney, IL Friday/sat next weekend. Hopefully we can catch up at a race yet this year!

@@claytonl.covell2634 yeah we had hoped to go to butler (again, we went there last year). Unfortunately that race already took place and we didn’t go, as it stands it doesn’t look like we have any Michigan races this year. Look for us at Maverick races here in indiana, a trip to northwestern Ohio, and perhaps one more trip west, likely 8/2-3 weekend.

Very nice. Brings back memories of when I lived in Alaska. We built multi raised bed gardens and filled them with mostly compost and soil on the top. Lot of work but worth it in the end. Tons of veggies and flowers for the moose to eat.
